YO!

I'm doing an installation jobby for a university project
which is a sort of ambience generator type thing. When a
sensor is triggered it picks eight random samples from a
bank and assigns each one a bunch of random variables
(speed/direction, volume, pan, effects, filters etc.) sticks
them on speakers around the space and starts looping. Faders
are dotted around the space which alter one of these
variables (what the fader alters is also assigned randomly)
and so people can wander around and alter the loops until
they create something they enjoy.

Here's the deal. I want as many loops as possible. The aim
at the moment is 64 of my own but I'd be very pleased if I
could get it up to double that. The sounds can be anything
from you scratching your arse to naked sinewaves to field
recordings to 15 instruments going at once in a drone. So
long as they're not too melodic anything goes. The optimum
loop length is eight seconds as that's how long the buffers
are but I'll take anything and stretch it or shorten it (the
pitch and all that will be random once the loop's playing
anyway).

What you get in return. Anyone who contributes a loop or
more will be fully credited and receive the following; If
you have Max/MSP you will get a copy of the patch and all
the loops allowing you to create your own ambient crap
whenever. If you don't have Max you'll get 10 six minute
mp3s generated by the patch and lovingly twiddled by my fine
self which will all be unique to you. All submitters get a
digital picture of me to print out and put on their walls.

Make me proud xltronic!

Here is a short clip of the patch in action using
eight loops I recorded in my room earlier. Beware clipping!

Flashkit.com

There are Sound FX and Sound Loops menu choices that lead to
many freeware sound effects

It's going really well. People are spending up to half an
hour in the installation which is fucking great. I couldn't
have done it without my XLT chums so a simple thanks doesn't
even being to cover it.

I'll sort out your sounds and etc next week when i've got a
massive pile of work out of the way.

Thanks x x x
