Hi guys. I'd like to put together a simple website for a
little project I'm working on, and I hoped you guys might be
able to put me on a couple leads. I don't want to pay a
professional for something that I may or may not even see
through to completion, so if possible I'd like to design it
myself. I remember Microsoft's Frontpage software from years
ago, but Frontpage 2003 seems to be the last version of the
program. Is Frontpage completely outdated or is it still
worth taking a look at? Can you recommend any other
user-friendly web design programs? I have very limited HTML
experience, so the more the program holds my hand, the
better. Thanks.

Dreamweaver is nice to sculpture your own sites, its
downfall is that you might not find it dynamic enough for
these times. I suggest you try out either some blog software
or a full cms system (drupal, wordpress, phpbb - there are
probably tons). If you decide to use blog software or cms,
no program other than an imageeditor and notepad will be
required. You should be able to read yourself through the
documentation (if needed) rather effortlessly.

well if you want to create something quickly which looks
good, you should try using http://www.xsitepro.com/

this is for people with limited wed design skills, they are
not just templates, you can create your own designs and i
think it incorporates flash too, but not sure .

the interface is user friendly, so you don't have to code
it. for example if you wanted to have a photo, you just add
one and resize it, position it really easily.

Dreamweaver! I remember that one, too. I'll have to try to
get my mitts on a copy.

Thansk for the input, gentleman. I'll give xsitepro a
try, and look into amaya as well (though I think that one
might be a bit technical for my needs).

I'd happily do it for you to take my mind off the ghastly
projects I usually find myself working on.

Oh yeah, I saw your work at 2girls1cup. I thought it was
nice actually.

I'd be eternally grateful, sir. I'm going to prepare a bit
of art which I'd like to use for the site, and work some
more on the content as I wouldn't want to waste your time
designing an empty space! I'm not exactly sure how well my
idea will work out, so I'm going to flesh it out a bit more
before I put a poor soul to work on a content-less website!
:)
