yukiyaki writeup:
Esa Ruoho is always on the go around the Electronica/IDM
globe. Thus it is more than a touch of fortune that his
restless wanderings washed him to our shores where he left
behind a little chest for you.
Five lush Electronica pearls have been aligned to a handy EP
under his most famous moniker, which shows certainly proof
of not only some kind of concept but also of the
unquestionable mastership that Esa exposes in all his
musical works. Without trendy side blows some grumblers
might call it traditional but the more enlightened listener
is fairly aware that glistening tunes and sophisticated beat
architecture in broad cinemascope will never ever become
obsolete.
Esa Ruoho aka Lackluster hails from Kontula, Eastern
Helsinki, Finland, and has been composing instrumental
electronic music since 1994.
Influenced by early warp, early detroit, and his local
peers, he has established a status as a permanently bubbling
under artists. Growing up on the demoscene led him to
embrace trackers, and later sequencers - anything goes.
He releases on various labels and netlabels maxis and
full-length albums.

---
yours, esa.

This is an absolutely beautiful melodic journey that is
brilliantly layered with amazing sounds that define
lackluster as a cutting edge artist. Nobody will ever
compete with his style and ability to surprise in an almost
magical way. The two incredibly daft comments above sadden
me for this is an artist who deserves so much more than he
has been given in life. I feel like I am stealing by taking
this music, but I will make up for this in the future.
Great job Esa!

esa, you really are a brilliant man. and unlike a lot of
newer IDM albums coming out these days, you're staying very
true to yourself- keep up the amazing work.

p.s. come visit arizona, i know sam (syscon) and i would
certainly appreciate it.

It's wallpaper music at best. Try and pitch your music to
people that decide what music should be played in lifts
populated by wankers.

allibee: i'd love to play in the states. so far it hasn't
worked out tho, there's been queries since 2002 or so but
theres just not enough venues/organizers that want to chip
in re: flights. i dont think this'll really change anytime
soon unless if i change what i do in music.

this was fun

I decide what music gets played in elevators, this hyper
glossed turd doesn't sound so good when played through our
mono Dixons home brand double cassette deck lodged beneath
the carpark, therefore I have to turn it down in favour of
some instrumental synth pan pipe versions of old Phil
Collins shit.

hey,

sam just sent me "spot the melody," and my boyfriend and i
both agree that it is absolutely spot on. how i wish i could
produce the tunes that you do!

and, also, esa- i'm begging you not to change your styles; i
mean, fuck, man! where would the world be without your
tunes??!?!?! it would be fucking chaos, my friend.

allibee: Thanks man! I won't be changing anytime soon. But
there's a secondary project that's just ambient drones.
