I can't afford to pay bills and I am the one that gets
penalised!

Fucking stupid banks. I phoned up Financial ombudsman and
they said there's nothing they can do.

Any advice?

just the obvious, stop spending and get some more money.

at least they won't throw you in a debtor's prison. they
won't will they? the UK seems to be getting weirder and
weirder these days, so it wouldn't surprise me. i don't
know what i'm talking about.

Nah, that's cool. Things aren't too bad, when I really thing
about it. It's just that this has happened a couple of time
now. All I am doing is trying to pay my bills and because I
can't afford to, the bank makes it fucking worse. Then I
watch advertisements about how banks are giving people money
freely and easily cos they are so generous! Makes me very
unhappy. So much of the money I make in part time jobs
(while most people I know can afford to pay for £40
haircuts that make their hair look different, with their
insultingly excessive trust funds) goes toward paying for
surcharges upsets me without any kind of relief.

Apparently, banks are in court over surcharges. But they
have been for a while now and I can't see an organisation
with as much capital as a bank losing a court case... If
they did, then maybe I would get at least some of my money
back.

I want to go with an ehtical bank, like Smile.co.uk, but
they don't offer as high an overdraft as Natwest, so I have
to pay those fuckers back first. They didn't give me the 5
year young persons railcard they promised, neither.

Fuck, long rant. Sorry about that. Thanks for reading, if
you have done so.

lol, good idea!

Though, at this time of economic shitiness, would there be
much left in the vaults? :s

Yeah, they help with a lot of things and seem really
helpful. They say that if you cannot afford to call them for
long periods of time, they will ring back! Really cool.

find them here

Yeah, I have a job over Easter holidays. pays well, though
only 3 hours per night, lol.

I just get annoyed with banks thinking of excuses to extract
money from the poorest, just because they can.

But you're right, I should just accept it, pay it and try
not to let it happen again. This is what I am doing. I am
going to be FAR more frugal next term.

I doubt I'll go to prison. I only went over by about 25
quid.

Where are you from, that they might imprison you for that?
:)

haha!

If only the world was so just, Freqs. If only the police
actually gave a shit about such things and weren't working
against people in most ways...

Cool idea, though. Might try it myself, see what happens! :D

i know shit about finance companies, but what they do is
just sending you unwanted credit cards and pretend that
they've accepted you request, applying incredible interest
rate every month you pay. be very aware cos they're
pratically usurer, but legalized. you don't have a national
post where to ask for your needs?
