nice, but can you make a track out of it. soon loses its
appeal otherwise.

b-b-b-bejsline!

doesnt take much more to be a full
(regular) dubstep track actually...
add one cool vocal sample or melody bit to it,
double it, voilà!

are you going to become a local dubstep star now mate

by local you mean szczecin or gdynia :>

no in fact i would really want to finish a few of "typical
but nice" dubstep tracks and release them just to stimulate
polish artists a bit to come out. i mean dubstep will never
be my main style ever.

you see in fact that's quite some problem for me still. i'm
making rather cold and mathematical idm and have a very
analytical approach towards music.

making a bassline like this is quite easy but now making all
those sampled blips and vocals with hundreds of delays and
reverbs to make it sound really "dubby" is the most
difficult thing for me personally

i once encountered a name "Tricity" or something

good idea, good luck !

yey "tricity" is basically what we call the aglomeration of
danzig, sopot and gdynia because they are so close together
and it's difficult to make a clear border.

rudster: i have to admit that i don't really like those
"mainstream" guys. although i have to admit that the above
bassline was highly influenced by the caspa remix of
"where's my money". i enjoy all those
"not-really-100-%-dubstep" artists like ital-tek, 2562,
marching dynamics and so on.

I passionately hate dubstep but this is pretty interesting,
I like the use of reverb on the percussion and that killer
rhythm at :15.

offline sadist from the dark side of the moon on 2009-03-26 17:29 [#02282339]

no i'm not really using reason. i used the word "really"
because i sometimes rewire it to sample a few sounds out of
it.

all the basslines in this track were made with massive (in
fact, 5 instances of massive because those dorks at ni
simply forgot about an option to control the lfo speed
through midi so when you want to use a 1/4 beat, a 1/8 beat
and a 1/16 beat wobble in one track you already have to open
up three isntances... jeez)

dubstep is quite an interesting and difficult genre. in fact
it might be the shortest-living genre (even shorter than
schranz music). the problem is that it consists of a minimal
amount of sound and nowadays people just don't have the time
and heart to put some effort into those few and rather try
to make "soundalikes". i swear 80 % of the newer dubstep
tracks have basslines created with the z3ta+ vst plugin
which has quite a distinctive sound. it's just not suited
for the 21st century where you want to have good sounding
results very fast and using minimum effort. that's why all
those "glitchy" sounds are popoular right now because they
sound very advanced for the average listener but in fact
it's created with just a few plugins.

if you don't mind, here's a synopsis of your post: 98% of
dubstep is shit.

nothing personal, really. i actually kinda liked your
bassline.

You can set up massive to allow you to modulate the
lfo speed with an outside source.

not in "sync" mode. you can in unsynced mode but you just
have to trial and error for which turn of the knob sets
which speed.

in z3ta+ for example you can make it normally.
