I think it would be difficult to compose a realisitic sounding lute melody with a single note sample pack, because of the different phrasing and styles of playing one, much like a guitar would be difficult. unless they could inclued some kind of plug-in software which anabled you to program those techniques, like slides hammer-ons, pulloffs, harmonics etc i have little knowledge of a lute, but i assume it is a plucked or strummed like a guitar.
You could try to sample recording of a lute concerto/solo and work around it. or you can try to find a emulated lute preset on a synthesizer.
