I've never been a massive fan, but still- I don't hold much
I'm afraid, Freqs. Then again, it is 2009. Maybe, MAYBE
it'll be good.

year.
just to be sure it works.

1 2 3 4 5 series were the best ....then a girl got on board
6 or 7?? whatever.

Season 8 was a lot better than Season 7, which is when
Kochanski came back - apart from the Rimmer song, Season 7
mostly sucked.

There was a Red Dwarf fanmade Lemmings level on the Amiga,
it sucked a bit.

Dave is the shittest name ever for a TV station, why on
earth isn't it on BBC2?

http://www.reddwarf.co.uk/news/2008/09/19/new-red-dwarf-s...

This is actually happening, I thought this was a joke post
because no one could possibly name a TV station (even if a
digital one) simply "Dave".

so this mini-series is really a micro-series...

two half an hour episodes

oh man, what awful news.
I wish they'd just re-release the original series without
the added effects and canned laughter that drowned out the
actually good comedic parts.

bigbig red dwarf fan here.
as much as i think this going to be terrible, i don't think
it's aweful news. finishing series 8 on a cliffhanger, with
a hint that it's not the end, followed by endless rumours
and talk about a new series/movie, i'm relieved that they're
finally putting this miniseries together, hopefully to end
it.
totally disapointed with series 7 and 8, i have very very
low hopes for this 3 part special. that said, i'm totally
looking forward to watching it :)

Really enjoyed the one tonight. The ESPER sequence was
brilliant. Anyone been watching these?

Saw last nights. Taped tonight's with the V+ thingymybob
because I had to walk the dogs. Was really
disappointed with last nights. Suffered greatly from there
being no audience and the writing wasn't great. Hopefully
that was all just set up for the next two episodes.

Love you dave_g, you are ace.

Well it's good to see you and thanks for the high praise.
I'm not entirely sure what I've done to deserve it!

I agree about the absent laughter being a mistake. I was
disappointed with part 1, but number 2 was better.
There is a positive correlation between my enjoyment and the
time it is on for, so hopefully part 3 will be quite good.

i thought it was terrible, didnt laugh once, yeah it was
good seein them back together again but for a show thats
went 8 seasons with a studio audience then suddenly to none
it just didnt work, im not sayin you need a laughter track
to make a show funny, they should have just left it alone,
the cgi was fuckin awful too

Quite possibly the worst fucking piece of shit i've ever
seen in my life. I grew up watching that show so it is even
more painful to see them use such a cliche idea when they
had the potential to reboot the series and make it relevent
to us again. The whole "tv characters in the real world"
thing has been done so many times before and it NEVER works.
The only time I even raised a grin was when they did the
photograph scanning/references to Bladerunner.

Really, to me it seemed like the Red Dwarf team and Dave
(the channel) were just circle jerking each other for 30
minutes. Yes, it's Red Dwarf and yes, it's on Dave, but
where the fuck is the story?

Oh man, I don't even think I can watch the final episode.
THAT BAD. I can see why they removed the audience laughter
track from the final audio mix. This shit just isn't funny
and has totally detroyed any hope of a new season/movie now.

It's not getting any better and they trundle off to
Coronation Street.

Sigh.

So I watched the second one again, this time sober. Yeah
it's pretty bad. Better than the 1st one still and the
bladerunner bits were good but wow, what a difference a
clear head makes :(

its more like an advert or ( a children in need /comic
relief thing.

notice no audience laughter

i can't think they will kill em off here? thats just to
smeg.

i know they enjoyed making it (carpool interview) however,
so who knows they may get back to reality soon? i doubt its
game over.

Tons of recycled junk, awful homage to Blade Runner, no live
audience, no wit, too self-conscious, rips off both The
Dark Tower
and Stranger Than Fiction, Coronation
Street was just cringey, terrible Dave product
placement. My mind wept.

massive red dwarf fan since i was a kid.

these new episodes were awful, so bad infact that the
coronation street bits were the best.

how difficult could it be to stick to how it was instead of
taking a big steaming dump all over it with pop references
and lifeless rip offs.

on his own doug naylor cant write funny scripts to save his
life.
