yo
i got some old miniDV tapes
transferred em to the pc and edited to a fashion using
microsoft movie maker
piece of piss to use but keeps crashing and crunches the
output quality

can anyone recommend some such software which is piss easy
to use, for simple record/cut/paste/audio dubbing/editing
but that will maintain the original quality of the tape,
i.e. that is "broadcast quality" output
needs to burn to dvd or preferably blu-ray

i figure there must be some freeware out there by now but i
don't mind buying something if its right. i really dont want
to be caught up in complex user interface tho / don't need
fancy edits yet... help?!

it's actually a professional app and not free, but adobe
premiere pro is piss easy to use and if you're used to other
adobe software like photoshop, illustrator etc... you'll
pick it up instantly. i assume you're already quite familiar
with sequencers heh, so i'm sure you'll do ok.

i remember first using it around 5 years ago at uni as i
wanted to make a moving image/animation and needed to
sequence my renders and mux with audio. it took me about an
hour to learn everything i needed and the result came out
perfect.

there is a 30day trial version you can download too.

alternatively, i'm sure sony vegas will also do the trick,
tho i've never tried that. if it's anything like acid pro,
then even a dog could use it.

fun fact: miniDV =/= broadcast quality

if you're using a PC, i second what Brisk said... you could
try to find a Mac somewhere though and use Final Cut
instead, it is better software.
