Since many people use LCD monitors these days, screensavers
are becoming a computer legacy. LCD monitors don't suffer
from screen-burn the way that CRT monitors do, and since
most (if not all) are energy-star compliant, the screen will
simply switch off after 10-15 minutes without use, making
screen-burn virtually impossible to occur. Should you
somehow manage to burn an image into an LCD screen,
switching the power off for 10-15 minutes will allow it to
clear.

That being said, I still have love for screensavers. I use
the vista screensaver "Bubbles" because it's the only one
which allows you to see the desktop behind it, even if it is
just a transparent "screenshot." Plus, I like the shader
effects on the bubbles. :)
