Looking for a portable recording unit for those times I
don't want to stare at a computer screen. Was thinking of
getting one of those fostex deals, but this seems more to my
liking.

I saw it in the music store today and it's pretty neat.
Battery powered, built in mic, uses SD.

I think I might buy it.

XLT, what non PC/Laptop 4-track solutions do you have ? I
don't want to break the bank, just want something to record
multi tracks.

I like tape 4 tracks, but they seem to be a hassle to
acquire.

Compare the specs on this, tho. for an extra $100 you get
a 40 GB HD, on board FX, digital out, nicer LCD, etc..

I always wanted one of those earlier Tascam 4 track tape
machines, but never really got around buying one cause i
don't know why. Just for the sake of having it and recording
stuff to tape more pro than this old tape deck i have with a
record button. That one Tascam had like EQ and everything,
lovely stuff !
