hmm... the one in american beauty is more sad than anything, but otherwise excellent choices. there's one real memorable scene in Ichi the Killer. then there's all that american pie / something about mary / teen comedy fluff, which was once funny. then there's that episode of Seinfeld, but I guess that doesn't count? |

Ah man, I feel so ridiculous having not seen that movie yet. :( This crazy scene makes me want to see it more, too! :) If the movie is not crap, it can be counted. Especially if it is weird and/ or has some kind of substance to it. Miike stuff's a good example of both these criteria. |

Oh my, k then. Then again, I didn't find Audition disturbing... I found this Spanish film in which someone got raped more unsettling than Audition. It was weird the way that the rape was shot so casually. I found that more effective, as it was subtle. KIKA! Just found it, after googling 'weird Spanish films'. ;) Subtlelty is powerful. Eraserhead was weird. That is more likely to mess me up than anything else. |

Yes he did. It's actually an excellent movie and it opens with a masturbation scene much more peculiar that the one interrupted by the chicken. When in Iceland, I was responsible for a group of welders and steel construction fitters. They of course knew that I spend quite a lot of time in the internets and were bitching about geting them some movies, polish comedies or something entertaning. The only thing I had on the HDD which could've been considered fun and had polish subtitles was Taxidermia. They never asked again, though a few of them were truly impressed. |

Yeah, think I have heard of that! Just haven't got round to watching it yet, though. People on Rotten Tomatoes completely slated it. But what do they know- the site gave Happiness about 35%. The fools! Jonathan Ross likes it. That's all that matters. :) Is Spanking the Monkey a good film, then? |

Well, for the first year I was helping a 70+ years old Icelander to run a development company working in small to medium-large industrial buildings. The guy was buying designs from my father's design office and building materials from several manufacturers we knew in Poland and Czech Republic. It was a nice cooperation until it occured that the guy was haemorrhaging money. He was most likely paying some old debts with money he should've been using to pay for steel. The case is in court at the moment, but the steel manufacturer from Poland intending to minimize his losses started a foreign branch in Kopavogur with me heading it. It actually sounds much more serious than it was, but so does everything we do, when we describe to somebody, doesn't it? Well, now we know that it wasn't the best business decision, to invest money in getting a stronger foothold in the Icelandic construction industry, but it was a nice adventure as a first job. Actually, I think we showed small profit in the end. Right now, I'm working in bocad in our family office. Much more boring, longer hours, but nice steady income in tough times. |
