My Waffle business

I started a business, I borrowed allot of money to invest
into it, the business is suppose to start in May 09 but
things got bad over christmas, i lost my previous job and
had trouble with things.

Basically I am putting everything at risk, all of my money
and assets are now invested on my waffles, if I don't make
profit this summer I will be declaring myself bankrupt

I am a gambler, i i am gambling with my banks money on this
business

but how bad it is to be bankrupt really?

risk vs reward...good luck! If you don't try you will
always question yourself...

Do you accept waffle investors?

I not considering investors if that's what you mean diaZo
because i want to own the business 100%

should i be scared of bankruptcy? or maybe i will like it
:P

i don't see how it would be that bad apart from not being
able to get a mortgage, which i don't want anyway

i am going balls out on this business and just see what
happens...

so far i have booked 'the bearded theory festival' 'the big
session festival' 'summer sundae weekender' and there are 4
more unconfirmed

rather than go bankrupt there are other 'less severe' ways
of sayin you have no money.

but better still i rekon it'll be a hit and larns waffles
will become like bubbagump shrimp. a house hold name.

best of dude.

the other option is to hold back until next year and focus
on debts, i have not yet paid the festivals yet, so i have
time to consider my options. but as all my personal friends
know, i am a risk taker and a gambler, so i will probably
just go for it.

thanks

all the gear ready?
can you play music at your stall? your on wheels arnt you?

can't you go out in the street with your cart, instead of
just festivals?

You should have borrowed as much as you can while you had
the chance, not like you will have to pay it back as half
the banks will be going under at this rate.

if it's your first business i wouldn't guess the chance of
success is very high...these things should be set up so you
can fail with as little pain possible...not taking yourself
into bankruptcy. i don't know what the laws are in UK or
the US really.

Aw... I though the Summer Sundae Weekender was an ice cream
festival, not another boring music fest! :( The line up is
crap, too.

The world sucks; I think I'll go to bed now and not ever
wake up.

As said, it may not be a great idea to start a business at
this time. However, it looks like you're going to do it
anyway, so good luck! ^^

I did have a van before with a serving hatch, but i sold it
and decided to use a tent kiosk, a waffle with topping is
£2.50

there was someone who designed the logo yeah, but i scrapped
it and made a new one

I was lucky to get 6k off my bank and i got 3k from princes
trust, plus i had a some myself, but i have massive credit
card bills and so things are super tight.

yes it's going to be tough for me, but I have to try i
guess, other wise i will be one of those guys you see in the
cold street at 6am with a yellow coat going to the factory

is this waffle from an old family recipe, handed down
through the generations, grandfather to father to son, each
time honed and improved until the waffle transcends other
foods that share the name and becomes something more than a
waffle: it becomes an experience? And can you get one with
ham and cheese melted on it?

to get your loan, did you just walk in to the bank, stuff a
waffle into some bald dude's maw, and as he's choking it
down with tears of joy running down his cheeks, you
whispered in his ear "help me bring the gift of waffles to
all men and women with £2.50 and a healthy appetite?" He
then swallowed his waffle and weeping, proceeded to write
you a check. "Go now son, into the world and share your
geometrically indented snack biscuit with the people and
bring perhaps a single ray of light into these dark times."

haha! Ace. :D

Only thing that detracted from my enjoyment of what I just
was that waffles are certainly not "biscuits".

Stil hilarious, though.

Thank you. *bows*

Not exactly like that

I had to climb a holy mountain, at the top i found the
waffle master, he handed down the secret recipe and i went
forth to venture into the world of the Liège waffle . it is
so sweet and irresistible to anyone ...

But seriously the Liège waffle recipe is a guarded secret
in Belgium

Is it possible to make a waffle with just one huge square
indented in it instead of a bunch of tiny squares or would
that no longer be a waffle? Cuz then you can fill the whole
square with syrup from a single pouring/pumping position
instead of sweeping back and forth across the whole waffle.

my grandmother used to serve something called chicken
and waffles
. it was chicken in chicken gravy over
waffles. the first time i had it i thought it was kind of
strange bordering on gross, (i was used to having waffles
for breakfast and generally with something sweet), but i
came to quite like it.

it wasn't anything she just did with leftovers, either. she
would bake a whole chicken just to make this.

haha over in the states i think they have waffles with
anything, these ones are just very sweet ones, they have
sugar pearls inside which caramelize as they bake in the
iron which gives the waffles a chewy texture, and you
sometimes feel a crunch of sugar.

If this is serious, than all I can say is don't be greedy.
Just hammer out a good product at a good price and your
business will take off. Times are very tough right now, and
I know the UK has gotten hit hard and will continue too.
The food restaurant business will always have a place
because people are lazy (given nothing catastrophic
happens).

So, do some calculations and figure out how much profit you
need in order to get by modestly until things improve.

Good question Big, they are made fresh in Belgium to the
highest quality, then they are flash frozen and delivered to
me. I then store them in my massive chest freezer and
defrost them as i go.

Initially I tired to make them myself, but i ran into all
kinds of trouble because the Belgium's keep the recipe a
secret, i was not able to produce them at a good enough
standard.

thanks Rev I have a business plan drawn out and i have a
financial forecast, using a cash flow analysis for this
year, but really there are allot of variables. I just need
to sell at a minimum of 6 per hour, but my target is 10 per
hour to make a healthy profit.

But I make good profit for selling hot drinks including hot
chocolate, cans and bottles.

sure thing thanks Zephyr.

I will be hitting a few festivals this year, if it takes
off then i'll be able to aquire more loans to get funded for
the big festivals in 2010.

I know those festivals i booked are not exactly great ones,
but you have to start somewhere, i am only targeting the
small ones up to 3000 capacity.

If anyone can reccomend a small camping UK festival, please
let me know
