Fave everyday cheese

Do you always buy the same one, or just whatever's on
offer?

I like McLellands Seriosuly Strong Cheddar. Bloody
beautiful. It has a savoury, full bodied flavour, with a
tangy finish. There was an offer at Asda for 600gm fo £4,
so I bought 3 blocks. On my last block now though. :(

If anyone says Cathedral City or Pilgrim's Choice, I hate
you, btw.

Cathedral city is only good when they have the double pack
for £4 odds, other than that i prefer reduced fat
smartprice cheese slices

Yeah, guesso.

I appreciate that cheese is quite expensive for what it is,
but I would thoroughly reccomend you try Seriosuly Strong.
Even if it's just every now and again, it is the most
flavoursome supermarket Cheddar, with doubt.

McLelland's Seriously Strong Cheddar. Treat yourself!

BTW, I don't work for this type of cheese. I just really
like it... ;)

All cheese is uber good, brie is high on my list atm, hit
tescos around an hour or so befor they shut and the deli
counter is often selling off big pieces for pretty cheap,
grab a loaf of tiger bread, some slices of salami, cpl beef
tomatoes, pesto, lil olive oil and you have a tasty and
delisious snack.

Hmmm... gingaling's suggestion was viable, as the cheese is
cheap. Therefore it could be classed as 'everyday cheese'.

Surely you guys wouldn't have smoked gouda or asiago
stagionato on toast for lunch? They're tasting cheeses, I
would say.

That sounds like a bloody tasy sandwich though, gingaling.
I'm, veggie and it still made my mouth water. :)

What is it like- rubbery, creamy, strong?

whatever cheddar sainsburys deli on lewes rd has on offer
as long as its not mild

mild cheddar is pointless, i bought a block by mistake about
a month ago. it's still in the fridge unopened.

Kerrigold Dubliner is fantastic and one of my favs. Other
than that, I like aged cheeses, just picked up some 2-year
white cheddar. The stronger the taste, the better, IMO.

My favorite cheeses are the ones with complex textures...
Soft and moist but with pockets of crystalized crunchiness.
The 2-year white has that consistency, and the cave-aged
Gruyere I bought a while back comes to mind. The gruyere was
probably the best cheese I've ever tasted, but was too
expensive to buy regularly so I suppose that's not what
you're after.

you should make your own edam cheese and market it as being
"so good, it must have fallen from the heavens!"

You could call it Edam and Ave.

Unless you are helping me to find the best and cheapest

Though I doubt that's the case.

Well, asiago stagionato sounds pretty darn good, from what I
have read. But it seems too expensive to be classed as an
everyday cheese. Even if one could afford it, it is still
surely a tasting cheese. To be enjoyed as a treat with
crackers. And perhaps grapes. And celery, too.

I think either Kerrygold Dubliner or Tickler mature Cheddar
has to be the winner. They are cheddars, therefore, even if
expensive, are still everyday cheeses. There's something
reassuringly sobering about cheddar, I think. If anything
will make me patriotic, it'll be Cheddar.

if I had to choose, it'll be Kerrygold Dubliner. ZephyrTwin
talks about it with such fervour and conviction that,
although I have never had it myself, I feel can trust this
good man's judgement on cheese. I will buy it next time I
have some money. Never. :)
