record with mic you banging the arm of your sofa . it got a
nice deep sound then put in sampler and trigger with keys.

record other sounds and pitch down there bound to be some
cool kick sounds availible in your home.

mix these home reordings with your other sampler sounds.
blend many kicks together n stuff.

i used redrum with tons of samples pitching and tone
fiddling and stuff, but i need some other kicks now.
i remember jeskola buzz days with emulated 909
and 808 for example, where i could adjust the click
and frequencies. i need something like that.
buzz doesnt run anymore. ill give the synths in reason
another go, but what program has bass-machines??

basskicks are pretty simple.

you take a sinewav and je put a fast pitch envelope on it.
one that starts high and ends looooooow.

reason:
maelstrom
set the osc to a raw soundwave (sine, saw, square, triangle)
go to Mod A
set modular A curve to 9
set pitch to 63
turn one shot on
turn the rate knob till it sounds the way you want it

i use the subtractor. thor isn't too bad for envelopes n
stuff and has plenty of filter/osc types to get some fancy
tones.

ill check thor too, been using two-band and the other EQ
in addition aswell now. put a donk on it!

if you manage to get a basic kick by methods mentioned above
and you feel it needs more detail or punch, then you can
layer other sounds over it. if you have some audio editing
software like sony sound forge you can layer pretty easily
and control the volume for the layer (preview it) try using
another sound, could be anything, like a zap like sound or
perhaps some white noise, i like to experiment with almost
any sound. just make sure your at 0db and not distorting at
all

I use Simpler in Ableton Live and use these juno sine wave
samples or square wav for a more electro kick, Then use
pitch modulation/envelope to make it really good.
