Actually, no. I do the opposite sometimes, though.
I like using Processing to visualize the music I make with SuperCollider. But regardless, it utilizes OSC, which is simply an incredible new interface that simply destroys MIDI in every way possible... except nobody uses it yet.

Should I bother to ask you to share your wisdom about this, or shall I just not waste my time and Google it? I'll do both.

It's implemented in some of the nerdier commercial softwares like Reaktor and Max (I think Max needs an addon for that), and of course it's available in lots of open things.
People around here get really testy if you question their 30 year old serial protocol that's slower than an dialup modem.
I'm interested in Processing -> Supercollider to do auralizations of graphics and other data, possibly realtime stock quotes or twitter feeds. And Processing seems to have more libraries available for net and elsewise because you can leverage anything written for Java (I think?). I'm just starting to explore it cos I installed a Lunis partition and I'm looking for good software possibilities that don't require use of Wine and all that.

That sounds like a really cool idea!
There's a thread at the Processing forums that discusses what you need to do the interfacing you speak of:
