As some of you know, I'm hacking Super Metroid. Well, my hack isn't done yet but it's official soundtrack is! I'm not skilled enough with hex to put new music into the rom so I chose this medium instead, which is better. This soundtrack is a collection of 38 tracks carefully selected through 8 years of my music. Tried to find the ones that fit best with my hacks areas. |

Even though I haven't played Super Metroid, this album stands steady on its own feet along with some screenshots and a wikipedia article on metroid :) I find that the album has a really cool atmosphere all through, and while it sounds retro and what I associate with video games, it also sounds modern and 'phat' and very nicely produced. It's also amazing how well the titles fit the songs.. I think if you are a Metroid fan, this album is probably essential, along with the hack he has created, but for those of us who aren't into that, you can just enjoy a nice trip into the ancient, the futuristic, the alien, and the retro, all blended perfectly together.. I would say this is also the best Digital Mantra album, I have listened to them all but I found this the best concept and selection of songs.. |
