Joshua Bell, one of the greatest classical musicians in the
world, dressed up like a street musician and played in the
metro train station in DC

In a curious experiment initiated by Washington Post
columnist Gene Weingarten, Bell donned a baseball cap and
played as an incognito street busker at the Metro subway
station L'Enfant Plaza in Washington, D.C. on January 12,

he made 38 dollars and 15 cents if i recall. and he said,
"thats pretty good. 40 dollars an hour without having to go

what do you suppose weingarten or bell were expecting? when
was the last time you saw a busker get a standing ovation or
a demand for an encore? did they think that most people
would be able to tell the difference between the world's
best and a merely competent musician in the span of 30
seconds when they passed him on the street, with traffic
noise and other pedestrians etc?
