i loved their work for wipeout and stuff... for me, they
represent something essential of 90's techno-futurism, but
that was more than ten years ago, so maybe 2009 is a good
year for them to disband and rethink their approach.

Haha by whom? tDR always did it, the times when they haven't
Ae themselves have done it and it's noticeable.

I liked the Quaristice cover art, more than Untilted or
Draft. LP5 has to be a non tDR. My favorite? The second
Cichlisuite vinyl.

Alex Rutterford is credited for the Draft artwork (the best
imho). Perhaps he worked for D.R. at this time, but
they certainly didnt receive all due credits for that album
did they?

I always heard D.R. came back to AE with Untitled, which I
thought looked like a Burton snowboard graphic. Quaristice
blew too and only seemed to make sense for the die-cut
version. AE did Confield's art right? The art for that
seemed to make more sense in the accompanying video.

yeah i forgot about rutterford. you are spot on, they did
confield think they may have done lp5 too. i quite liked
untilted and really liked quaristice... wonder who will do
it now then, maybe still ian anderson, i think he will still
be designing.

Feel free to nab yourself a tDR sleeve-themed mix I done did
here. Lots of WARP goodness to be had. Enjoy!

Elecktroids - Electroworld is by far my favorite record
cover.

tDR probably had a thick war chest no? 20 years in the biz
and they were in the top of their game during the mid
nineties, arguably the most profitable period in history,
this seems more like a decision to break the team, 9
designers is a bit too much if you ask me for the type of
work they did.

Ian said it stopped being the tDR a few years ago so yeah,
think it got too big, too far removed from its initial
ethos, hopefully this will be a good thing in a way.. every
cloud

Dear Autechre-

In the absence of tDR, I humbly offer my services for the
visual design and layout of your next album's art.

Thank you.

that sucks for the designers who lost their jobs. i really
like the quari art. i love simple type driven stuff and i
think you read that in much the same manner you listen to
the record.
