I'm really glad they chose to use really realistic samples
for the instruments, not some crappy midi soundset from a
SB16.

I know a few people who would really enjoy songsmith because
it helps them further their delusions about talent :(

the wonderwall one is quite cool, but the rest is a direct
slap in the face of every musician

I'm glad musicians are becoming more obsolete as a separate
elite class or artistic priesthood. Technology means that
anyone can be a musician.

gutted that it isn't.

Hilarious. Still, the technology is interesting. I think it
could be used in a much more creative way.

HAHAHA

and funny too

but still sad :(

oh god.

maybe they could use this for something good... MAYBE. But
they would pretty much have to invent the whole program
again. Even Wii Music kicks their ass.

The dude who is posting most of the videos on youtube says
he has all of the original multitracks. im assuming hes
grabbing them off the net somewhere.

yeah i'm curious where those vocal samples are from. i mean
that van halen vid is perfectly lip-synced with the vocal so
i guess it's a dvd or something.

I wanted to make a jesus blood never failed me yet songsmith
song, but you have to jump through so many patch hoops just
to install. I didn't know my setup was so outta date,
Microsoft.

Its like an April Fools joke.

Imagine the scenario though:

"Hey guys you know how Apple have that Garageband? My kids
love that"

"Oh yeah, my kids love it too!"

"Yeah, well we have enough money to do something like that
so lets pitch the idea here"

"Yeah cool"

"We can even get a kid in it with a Macbook covered in
stickers"

"Genius"

Basically a load of executive morons with too much money
trying to play catch up, as usual, like they did witht the
Zune like they do with everything. Bill Gates was a good
programmer he got there first and was aggressive so much so
that you dont have a choice what software you use on your
computer.

I fucking hate Microsoft.

written by songsmith after i just farted into the mic a few
times and looped it.
