Tried watching videos on that Maschine thing. Skipped the
intro so that I could actually find something out about it,
and instead was greeted with three comedy shorts. This
really shows what kind of a market native instruments is
going for with this peripheral. Fourth video in and they
start to describe what it is. Looks like an mpc that you
need to plug into a computer. The first two lines are taken
out of the mpc marketing books. I kind of lost patience with
the whole thing and closed the page.

Sickened by the whole event, I went to the bathroom to slash
my wrists.

And how is that good news for music? The only person who
seems to benefit from it at all is your mom, who can finally
sleep knowing that I won't be sneaking into her room while
shes asleep to have sex with her.

what do i have to do with 14 gigs of pre mastered 'never
heard before' samples (808, 909, sh-16) including RnB :/
Other than that, i think we're more and more getting away
from entirely computer based music again with external
controllers and, y'know, physical things that we can hold,
press, turn knobs on, and spill coffee on. I would know a
soul or two who would need that motu bpm thing, but i
dunno... Do we really need another device that forces you to
make generic drum-bass-melody-music, because it makes access
to basics so incredibly easy? I doubt any music-head on this
board would need such a thing.
But atleast it's not worse than that laser thing...

yes that maschine looks pointless. doesn't really offer
anything does it? just endlessly pitching products at
'fiesta drivers'.

Maschine looks to me like a clever way to overcome the
memory and display limitations of the MPC, leveraging
something most musicians already have (the compy) and to
release similar functionality at a lower price point.

Moan about the conventionality if you like, but no one is
better than NI at integrated software/hardware packages. If
it's as deep as their other products, bricks will be shat
when clever musicians get their hands on it.

also i desperately want to finger its candy nobs

Its EXACTLY like an mpc except it has a plugin that allows
you to edit patterns on a computer. Thats the only thing its
overcoming, is the fact that the mpc doesn't have a plugin.

Everything they showed on the videos I have seen show an mpc
in a different package, except you can't edit your samples
with it.

NI have been made of fail since they started doing hardware.

This however, is wall to wall win.
