Most Hated Level [philosophical]

I always hated Jolly Roger's Lagoon level of Banjo-Kazooie
when I was younger; too much swimming and I thought the
whole level looked the same so I got confused where I was
going, but playing it since and it's not too bad actually.
Didn't like Glitter Gulch Mine for much the same reason
except the swimming part (obviously)

what's your most hated level, in life or in game?

all water levels suck. why game developers think slowing
down the game and making the physics more annoying drives
things towards the fun end of challenging is beyond me.

Thief 2- the final mission, "Sabotage at Soulforge"-
laughable fetchquest in a vast, empty building, terrible
stealth against stupid robots. The game is perfect up until
then and does have the greatest level ever, "Life of the
Party"... and I just pretend "Masks" is the final mission.

Silent Hill 3- the subway is so boring

Half Life- Xen, this is a pretty standard choice, it really
does take the wind out of the game's sails. It's so exciting
trying for hours to escape Black Mesa, then they put this
shit in

I hated using the turret to shoot the asteroids. The part
where you have to walk on the outside of the ship hiding
from the meteroid showers is cool though. All the vacuum
sequences scared me and made me breathe weird

haven't played Thief 2 - is it better than the original Dark
Project? I found those Zombies on level 2 always quite
annoying.

Any level with an unrealistic time limit on it frustrates me
and, for you Sega Magadrive II players out there, he first
level on Revenge of Shinobi - so goddamn difficult.

any level where you get stuck in the scenery and die
irritates the fuck out of me.

solar power generator level in manic miner. being
repeatedly fucked by that beam of light did my 10 yr old
head no good whatsoever

those 3-D bonus emerald stages in sonic 3.... ugh

indoors areas in jumping flash

and yes, swimming areas in almost every game (they should
just give it up and drop the concept)

the entire Donkey Kong Country 1 game on the game boy... i
understand they wanted to keep the beautyful 3d rendered
graphics in this game too, but it makes the game nearly
impossible to play! An item, or enemie, or cliff, looks
exactly the same as the background! Also, the camera follows
the player like a retard and the screen is just way too
small for these type of games.

Crap. Game.

Worst in recent memory - the floating mission in Crysis,
maybe.

water levels have been quite annoying, yes,
however teh water stage in Donkey Kong Country I for snes
was stunningly beautyful and calming...

i think what buggered me most were
AUTOSCROLL LEVELS. simply no fun at all.

Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins

The final level. Having to start all over again and again
and again and again.... It turned my gameboy in a total
wreck.

taking pictures in dead rising isn't a level, but I hated
it.

The final boss in the first little big adventure drove me to
despair all those years ago. Actually the whole game was a
fustrating mess but I still felt compelled to play it
through to completion on the strengh of the sequel......

Honourable mentions to Xen, slippy slidy 'ice worlds', water
levels, final level of doom 2 for being so anti climatic and
um that's all I can think of right now.

Yeah, aside from the last mission, it's slightly better than
Thief 1. Less zombie content, if that's not your bag.

Thief 3 is underrated, it's the only one that doesn't have
any missions that make me blood boil.

Any level taking place in a cave bores the life out of me.
Numerous branching passages of nondescript rock--yuck.

I just recalled another level that pisses me off, and that
is the fridge level in Adams Family on NES, it has
_impossible_ jumps (and the platform clipping is bugging a
lot) and

it
has
ICE!

I HATE ICE LEVELS, there's hardly any acceleration, i always
fuck off ledges and shit when i move.. It's a really fun
concept though, but it's always a bitch, in every fucking
game.

Come to think of it, Jolly Roger's Lagoon was indeed very
shit. I always wondered if they really had to put in a
second water level, the cavern level was aweful enough but
still more enjoyable than that filler-up level.
