i don't and i think having children in these times is a bit
irresponsible and selfish considering the mess we're in.

I don't like him, he was never there for me!!! he neglected
me even when i was born he was away on business, and he
never had time for me, to this day he doesn't know me
really.

It makes me want to get my relationship right with my future
son!

dads almost always fall short. mine got TB, pissed in a jug
nxt to the sofa, drank too much, bullied my mom into
complete submission, had no relationship with any of us, he
then had an affair with (HIS NIECE!).
BUT I STILL UNDERSTAND THE STUPID BUGGER. dads are just
really weak, they usually mean well. i still love 'im and
even respect him just a little.
my mates dad raped him....it could be worse couldn't it
people

he beat up my mom and me occasionaly (with the belt), then
on the Easter weekend '87 when i was four years old he
crashed his car frontally into a bigger car and died, while
i survived. So i probably hate him a lot subconciously, i
mean i could never challenge him or speak to him. Lots of
unresolved emotions. He looks cool on photos though.

well i'd do my best to be an awesome dad.

my dad is such a jerk! he won't talk to me because i got
married!

my father is an alcoholic, neglectful and immature 'man'

blaaard that sounds quite extreme. glad you didn't die lol!

what you say about unresolved emotions. well. my dad is
still alive and i can never get through to him. he feels
sorry for himself and was never able to develop any kind of
emotional relationship with me. these emotional scars have
unfortunately made me replicate some of his worst traits.
escapism and feeling sorry for yourself. the latter being
the sorriest state of existence known to man.

i can't help but blame the institutions of the past.

reading this thread i feel kinda lucky cuz my dad had always
been a laid back, pleasant guy that basically let me do
whatever i wanted. he is from the hippy generation that
believed children should be allowed to "express themselves"
so there was lots of finger-painting and nature trips and
camping and whatnot.

he is a high school teacher and people say he is a little
bit like the hippy teacher in beavis and butthead, hehehe.

he was dissapointed that i never finished college and ended
up living in silverlake with a bunch of drug addicts working
a shitty service industry job, but i think he was sort of in
a similar position at my age anyway, whenever i go back home
him and mom always show me brochures for college courses
etc... guess it's nice that they care.

my dad and i fight whenever we're around eachother but so
long as we're 3000 miles apart we have a great
relationship.

he's always supported me and been a good father (better than
for my brother and sister at least), we just disagree on so
many many levels.

I don't hate my dad most of the time, but I think he's a bit
weak sometimes. Now my step-dad, on the other hand, is a
complete jerk.

fucking dads, what's with all the beard and stuff?

Completely neutral, he's just some dude. I haven't seen him
since the mid '80s. A few years ago my mom had him on the
phone and asked if I wanted to talk to him and I was like
''not really'', and she was like ''k''.

dead, but he was a good guy, i wish i had learnt more from
him tho.

dunno bout kids, its a fuck load of hassle i'm not ready
for. may be i could just spread seed and not think about it,
let somebody else raise the little bastards.

oh yeah, i totally want kids, and for the completely selfish
reason in that i think i'm really awesome and want to see
how fucking weird/cool i can make my offspring.

my daughter will be named seven.
