Thanks for the genuine snobbish chuckle that erupted from my
mind upon reading that post. I felt like a right dick

Well hedphukker, the username happens to be
TwistedCommercials, so the commercial theme is easily
appropriate. And newsflash, I am in high school and this
happens to be one of the first times in using Sony Vegas so
quite hatin' nigga.

Okay, I'm sure going with "watch until the end, it is quite
sub-par." would have people frolicking to this thread. I
need youtube hits man! Besides, it easily beats the other
BBB videos on youtube.

so you admit that it was shit, but that you just wanted

there is more to life than the internets

I absolutely do not admit that it is shit, but I do
rightfully stand my ground and say that it IS an awesome
video. So awesome in fact that even an 'elitist' like
yourself couldn't do better. And I love internets, but I
also many other things. But since those other things aren't
in between the screen and my face, I'll stick to internets
for now.

You are not Cunningham. You're a guy who thinks it's
ticklishly clever to repeat that he is Cunningham. And the
Montana, it does nothing.

"30 seconds of anything is boring and uninspired"

i can think of several things to which that does not apply,

I think this is pretty amazing, actually. Pretty clever
towards the end, even if it's a bit overworked.

you just have to understand that these boards are something
like a den of lions, except that they still think, poor
them, that natural selection is the thing that works out in
the zoo, whereas it's only poo.

Thanks BoxBob, the main purpose of this was to test my
editing skills. I only used commercials because i don't have
a firewire cable and i was going to use genuine footage and
throw it on my other account.

look you challenged us all with INCREDIBLE. we are snobs by
nature really (i don't speak for everyone i spose),
we were going to tell you off. the problem is that the vid
says nothing about the track other than 'these beats are
well random'. the way things cut really feels tasteless and
insulting, the viewer is just barraged with empty images and
searing colors. but you're lucky you've got that out of your
system, you can realise the mistake and do better. some
folks are twice whatever your age is before seeing this (or
they never do). my advice would simply be this; be more
discreet with editing techniques n stuff, you don't have to
move to every beat. also be much more selective with
imagery, look to those who have been more subtle or simply
choose stuff that actually means something to you in the
context of the given piece of music.

Ok AMPI-MAX, I accept the criticism. One thing though, show
me some examples, youtube is filled with uninspired fan
vids.

i dunno, look to films. youtube isn't really going to take
you any further than you've gone here. search the board
there's bound to be a fan vid around that isn't complete
rubbish. i half remember the cuckoo one being
alright
start with thinking hard about the track you are working
with then build on that.

haha, xlt powerplay in full effect.

really, it was decent, but probably could have done with
being an edit. almost 6 minutes is a little too much, but it
had some decent ideas and worked in a quirky, aphexy sort of
way. there were a few issues such as repeated use of
bloat/liquify-type effects on the faces, which got a little
old after a while, but really... it's not bad at all.

offline hedphukkerr from mathbotton (United States) on 2008-12-10 18:32 [#02258203]

i just think if you'd said something more along the lines of
"hey here's this fanvid that i made, it's my first shot at
vegas, hope you like it" you'd have gotten a much more
positive response.

the lack of a proper link, the fact that you call it AMAZING
when it frankly isn't, and that you have to insist that
someone watches to the end for it to be good (shouldn't it
be AMAZING within the first 30 seconds as well? why are you
holding out on us with all this AMAZING?) all lend
themselves to the interwebbal butt raping you've recieved.

or we could all be a bunch of twits, i can't really tell
anymore.

thanks brisk, really the main purpose was to make a vid that
compliments the song. It didn't work throughout so I just
challenged myself by switching each frame for every beat. An
edit extremity

it's called a flame war. jesus christ, you are in
high school. :P

i'd say keep it up, i mean most art people make in high
school is ghastly. the difference is that those with talent
and drive get better.

and if there's one thing to be learned from this thread it's
that there's a certain way to get people to give you actual
feedback on your work on the interwebs.

Im going to be honest and say i didnt like it.
All i saw were quick cuts to every click, and it didn't
really do much for me in terms of amazement.

do continue though, but i think you would need a better
concept/idea than this.

well done editing for 18 hours however, that must've been
painstaking.

Was pretty cool, but as other people have said, I did this
same type of stuff in high school.

(Only it was in Final Cut Pro with the song Flim rather than
this.)

You put a lot of effort into it, that's easy to tell.
However, from an artistic standpoint, the video didn't
particularly do much for me.

If you could do some of the cool stop-motion stuff with some
nice effects, but also construct a story within your video,
that would truly be impressive.

lets join the party!

the video is pretty mediocre for my taste,
and spending 18h in editing a video is nothing really,
like pretending to write a good book in three days...

your problem was selling the vid as it nots yours and with
unappropiate adjective in CAPS

I think my favourite fan made video is for Autechre's
plyPhon.

link

Main reason being, I never even noticed the track before I
saw the video. The way he represented every element of the
song visually and synced it perfectly, it's a really strong
fan video.
