Greetings. I haven't spammed here for a while, but i know that a handful of people out there enjoy my music.
I was going through some of my old stuff, and found some tracks that i deemed to good to rot on the harddisk. They have all been created in a 6 month period where i was working a full time job i hated in a city i hated. The winter was incredibly cold that year. I spent all my time either working, taking walks in the dark or creating music. I never showed the tracks to other people than a very good friend of mine for some reason - probably because they are very different from my usual style.
Most of them are kind of unfinished, and i can't find the files anywhere, so this is as good as it gets. It's just a sloppy mix, because there are so many tracks. Only two of them have lyrics.
So here you go Xltronic, 30 minutes of depressing music with a spark of hope.
I really do hope some of you enjoy this. Winter has come.

About 15 minutes through (i'll save the second half for later), but this is just as good or better than most labeled IDM these days. Really nice melodies across the board. Reminds me a bit of Cylob in places, but without the over-vocodering you would hear on his latest efforts.
The tracks might be a little moody in spots but I wouldn't call them depressing at all.

This is really excellent fun organized sound. Sounds like a collection of nostalgic memories or emotions. What program did you mostly use?

Thanks guys. It means a lot :)
And w M W, you are quite right. This half an hour really takes me back to that time!
The truth about my equipment will make a lot of people cringe - Fruityloops and cooledit (audition). I used to record a lot sounds with this crummy dictaphone, and clean them up in cooledit and use them as samples in FL.
That combined with a lot of free/illegal vst's can actually make FL quite nice!
Again, THANK YOU!!!

I'm always surprised when people can actually make good stuff using flstudio. I have it but half of the stuff is 'demo' (prevents saves) and its hard to tell which stuff, a crappy marketing strategy to get you to buy extra stuff that just turns out annoying. And everything is hard to figure out and non-user-friendly. I mean, the piano keys only label the c notes. The point of the pencil doesn't point at the exact place you click. And forget using anything nifty unless you want to watch 10 tutorials.

I think it's because it's the first sequencer based program that i ever got. I got it in an early stage of it, where it was ultra simple.
I just gradually learned how to use it, as new stuff was added. I've got ableton live now, and i honestly havent found a thing in it that i can't do in FL, apart from the "live" feel to it (Wich is why i bought it).
The only VST that i use, already in FL is the 3xosc, and it's bloody brilliant. You can load in your own samples in it, endless posibilities. Many of my sounds are created that way. Oh yeah, the beepmap also produces some nice sounds.
In combination with a program like cooledit (now audition) i believe it to be a very good program.
I honestly think the gripe many people have with it is 2 things.
1, If you use all the standard sounds in it, it does sound "fruity". Theres nothing worse than hearing a track with that preset fruity feel to it.
2, it's uuuuuuuugly. I really hope they make an edition where you can change skins and so on, not only the background. It's in contrast to the "cool" look ableton has.
So in conclusion, don't be a fruity hater!

I've listened through 3 or 4 times. The ones with lyrics are my favorites but I like them all, playful/harmonious. I think 3xosc is one of the few that isn't demo. I'm not really motivated to mess around with it. If anything I'll eventually try/research ableton live.
