My What.CD isn't working

offline 010101 from Vancouver (Canada) on 2008-11-20 10:39 [#02253767]
Points: 7669 Status: Regular

Is anyone else having the same problem, I tried to log on
last night and I couldn't even reset my password. It said
something like "this email address is not an account
holder"!

I know my user name causes problems if I attempt to go into
a chat room. I have been good, kept a good ratio I even had
an invite or two to give out. Could someone have a look to
see if there is a 010101 on there still.

I think we're all having issues with it at the moment. Me
and Vlari have been banned for no reason too. Strange things
afoot!

Is it possible to get banned for what is considered - by
what.cd - an inappropriate avatar? Say like a morbidly
obese, wheelchair stricken man wearing a protective helmet,
trying to eat an Analord collectors folder?

Isn't it also possible to get banned for not visiting your
account a few times a week?

The rules are strict.

I'm not banned, have a crappy ratio and had weeks of
inactivity (so that can't be the problem.)

but why are we being punished? mimi said she got back on.
Went to a channel 6669 or something?

id like an invite but im scared i might upset whatcd admin
they must be so upset with us.

hey unless they were hacked?

yeah maybe they still love us. :P

Well im a moderator at What.cd.
Im in charge of running the voice automated invite system
there.

I dont see any reason why you guys would get banned.

offline PS on 2008-11-20 22:15 [#02253965]
Points: 1876 Status: Lurker

I got banned two days ago, as well. I connected to their
irc server (irc.what.cd port:6667), then joined the
ex-member channel (what.cd-disabled), followed the green
instructions, and waited. A moderator came on, asked me a
couple questions, then reactivated my account, sans invite
abilities. Why was I banned? I accepted an invitation on
this board and I invited others on this board. Everyone on
my invite tree has been banned.

I apologize for this, we had a glitch in our system, but
everything should be back up and running now.

so there's one guy at the top of the tree who got banned and
took half of the xlt-population with him. nice. sounds like
a lazy half-arsed technical solution by the what crew. sure,
it's very tough to ban only one member of the tree, and
create new trees for the rest of the members of the old
tree....

Mr Brazil: I'm not sure if it's my fault. I didn't know it
at the time, before inviting Netlon, but a what.cd moderator
left a post in the what friends thread. It wasn't a
warning, more of a recommendation. I'm afraid that last
invitation I sent could have been the last straw, or maybe
I'm just being paranoid. The irc moderator was very vague.

goDel: I probably used the wrong words. By invite tree, I
meant all those below me, the ones on my what.cd 'invite'
screen. Above me, I only know of the person who invited me.
He was also banned. I assumed they picked a couple of us
off by our xlt profile emails and just banned everyone in
the vicinity. A lazy, half-arsed solution, indeed!

If you are banned and are a regular here (and got removed
because of an invite you got from here), speak to a
moderator on irc.what.cd in the channel what.cd-disabled.

I believe that the only people who got invites from this
site were regulars here who have known each other for a long
time and if that is the case, you should be able to get
re-activated (sans the ability to send invites in future).
If you signed up to this forum to get an invite and somehow
managed to get one, then you probably won't get back on and
the person who sent you the invite is screwed too I guess.

i also got banned... but i may be due to my rather inactive
account (my ratio is crap also (but i'm at least not
breaking the ratio standards, i'm just very inactive there))
but i don't know, what i certenly know is that i did not
violate the rules there... guess i'll just have to use
waffles from now on...
