oh just some surplus store summer sausage i got once that said product of denmark on it. it wasn't just greasy, it had this cream/film grease to it that was particularly disgusting. i looked on the back and one of the first ingredients was milk, which maybe works in a higher quality product but was not working in this piece of salted mess. i am kidding around though i know the danish have good cuisine. |

i must say i'm fairly disappointed with this thread. by now there should have been 10 different definite answers to why the danish are so retarded. but instead there's some chatter about snus and a pic of a guy who looks like he comes out of a ingmar bergman picture. both arguably make cases for the opposite. what the hell is wrong with you people? |

This is what happened to the Danish jews: The rescue of the Danish Jews occurred during Nazi Germany's occupation of Denmark during World War II. When Hitler ordered that Danish Jews be arrested and deported on 1–2 October 1943, many Danes took part in a collective effort to evacuate the roughly 8,000 Jews of Denmark by sea to nearby Sweden. The rescue allowed the vast majority of Denmark's Jewish population to avoid capture by the Nazis and is considered to be one of the largest actions of collective resistance to repression in the countries occupied by Nazi Germany. As a result of the rescue and Danish intercession on behalf of the 5% of Danish Jews who were deported to Theresienstadt transit camp in Bohemia, over 99% of Denmark's Jewish population survived the Holocaust. |

Still, it's not as black and white as it seems. Many people apparently exploited the Jew's financially, making them pay for the boat ride and so on. Also, many Danes were pretty OK with the German power in Denmark. Mostly, war time in Denmark was typically Danish trying to maintain status quo. In fact, i might be the grandchild of a Nazi, as my father does not know who his father is, his mom refuses to tell him, and he was born in 1944 (many of the women who slept with the Germans never get over the shame). Theres a saying: There was supposed to be a revolution in Denmark, but it started raining. It sums some parts of our culture up pretty well. |
