What do you think of freegans?

There is more to this philosophy than just scavenging, or
'dumpster-diving', which can be read here.

It is something people do to make a stand against
corporations making so much waste, when people are starving
from malnutrition, as well as a general stand against
capitalisation, globalisation, e.t.c

I would be interested to see whether people on here find
this gross, great, ridiculous, or whatever.

Care to elaborate, rad smiles?

and slipdrinkmats, people talk about more than just AFX.
Many other people do and I am sure you have int he past.
Sorry if you think I am 'trolling' or whatever... I am not.
I am just trying to start a thread about something important
to me and I value the intelligent input of the guys (and
gals) in this community, so I am asking for their thoughts
on it. Sorry if that annoys you.

mystery soup to support the hungry?

dumpster diving is rad, altho i think combining the vegan
ethos with a free ethos is unnecessary - they're two
different subjects.

there's lots of those here in santa cruz, all those fucking
anarchist fixed-gear-bike riding hipsters who wouldn't roll
down their pant legs for anything, so you get tired of it
pretty quickly.

i'm being so non-conformist i'm not gonna conform with all
the other non-conformists.

you really are a tool, just trying to gain some sort of self
boosting moral high ground, what have you done soo bad in
the past that you feel you have to appologise to the world?

FFS drop all the hippyist bullshit and get on with your
stinking life.

I guess this is not the best place to talk about things, as
it falls on such deaf ears as those of you, gingaling.

Thanks for your input though, hed.

gingaling, hope you are content being such a grumpy old
bastard. I think you are beyond help, so I will not
reccomend it.

I don't feel I have any "original sin" or anything like
that. I just think it is good to try to make a positive
impact on the world. Obviosuly people like will try their
utmost to stop me from doing that. I do things like this
because it makes me happy, not because I feel I have any
kind of "duty" to. I gave blood recently though, which I
only mention as it didn't make me feel particularly good
about myself, I did feel I had a duty to other people to try
to help them out. Also, I don't have much money, so if I can
get food, without destroying the planet, that is great.

For the record, I haven't been able to find anywhere that I
have been able to dumpster-dive in yet. So I am not a
freegan in that sense.

ur a half hearted tit then, try breaking into a marks and
sparks compound, they are known for throwing away masses of
food from their oh so delisious ranges, also bakeries and
subways....

The one flaw in their ideology is this: If everyone in the
world was a Freegan, there wouldn't be any dumpsters full of
old food to scavenge.

if everyone was a freegan, people would produce food in a
different, more ethical way, with less waste. Then people
wouldn't need to dumpster dive. They would still be freegan,
though- it is about more than dumpster diving. If you
followed the link, you would know this. Smart arse. =)
