Yes- music controls emotions with doubt.

I mean, what if you listen to something of which you don't
know which emotion it will convey?

I think genrally I listen to similar things anyway, despite
what my mood is.

Also, some albums, (Drukqs for one) convey a range of
emotions, therefore I wouldn't be in any specific mood to
listen to it.

music do not control emotions, becouse emotions is complex
of stuff which works together and is dependent of other
stuff. Music adds "colours" for emosions. So partially it is
true, this is why u cant say music controls emotions.

Emotions do not control what you listen to. It depends of
situation and again partially it is true becouse mental
state of your brain force what you will be listen.

You can state anything before you tell what is emotion so we
come back to this ugly word partially, which says nothing.

...depends what emotion you have attatched/relate to certain
songs. Maybe depending on the first time you hear a track
and the set and situation that its in.

Or some music jus plain stirs up an initial feeling say its
tune u used to listen to with your buddy and u assossiate it
with good times, but then another buddy dies and the same
track is played at a funeral and then you go from having an
initially good association to more more morbid one and the
same track that used to make u wanna get up and go now stops
u in what your doing and it just dont seem so good
anymore.... or if your having a wank and ur not really
listening any ways it doesnt matter.

i was just having this conversation witrh someone yesterday,
a serious conversation. we came to the conclusion people use
music to evoke whatever emotion they choose to and therefore
music could be used to control emotions too.

and ty for your replies.

I find that identifying with the music usually ruins the joy
of listening. That's why pop music's never been a big deal
for me.

Music is stimulating, and entertaining, and can invoke
feelings, sure, but I'm having trouble with people
identifying with a particular type of music - be it pop,
goth, idm, or whatever.

I've always wanted to bring a boombox on the train, though,
and play some Venetian Snares for the annoying teenagers
playing their nonsense-music with their mobile phones.

If I had a boombox I'd gangster lean down the street with
the Queen's speech on loop.

this weekend i noticed an amazing thing that music can do:
you can send message to yourself from the past with it!
