Hello xltronic,
Can you name some albums like the Artificial Intelligence
series on Warp?
Thanks.

well, wouldnt it make sense to check out the artists that
are in the compilation already, im sure a little two man
band called autechre will make you feel special.

check the new electronica compilations or label cat for an
expanded view

a couple of not too obvious albums:

ken ishii - jelly tones (R&S)
future beat alliance - disconnected (Delsin)
as one - reflections on reflections (New Electronica)
higher intelligence agency - freefloater/ colourform

first two are really good. the last two are hit/miss. the
higher intelligence agency albums haven't aged really well,
imo. all the typical 'artificial intelligence'-ingredients
are there, and maybe that's just it. it's too obvious. but
if you're looking for some artificial intelligence kind of
albums, you should def. check these out.

repeat - repeats

basically a plaid album, but mark broom gets to join from
time to time. a bit underrated album, i think. should get
more credit than it usually does.

megalon - pandora's box

a bit obscure, but def. good. if you're able to get a good
copy/rip and you can up a lossless version please give me a
call :)

cuntychuck - thanks, yes I like autechre although I prefer a
more spacey Detroit techno sound rather than theirs.

vlari - perfect, the ART stuff is great and I'm missing so
much of it.

goDel - thanks, I've got 2 out of those, will check the
rest.

luke slater's 7th plain - 4 cornered room

also hard to track down. sounds a bit dated. but i guess
that's what you're after, since the ai-series tends to sound
dated as well

Off the top of my head that's not on WARP/mentioned:

CiM - Reference
CiM - Do Not Multiply Models
In Sync VS Mysteron - Android Architect
LA Synthesis - Matrix Surfer
Stasis - Past Movements
Alex Cortex - Inward Ctrl
John Beltran - Ten Days of Blue
The Detroit Escalator Company - Soundtrack 313
Reload - A Collection of Short Stories
Dimension 5 - Alien Artform
Max 404 - Love & Mathematics
Russ Gabriel - Voltage Control
Nuron

Sadly a lot of the good stuff is on hard-to-find vinyl.
Such as B12, Likemind, ART.

love this thread, AI style music is just about the best imo.
Here are some labels to look out for.

.Out of Orbit (ACV [90's Italian techno label] sub-label)
.A13 (their Experimenta compilation is really good)
.Eevo Lute Muzique
.Peacefrog (the 'Inspiration' relase by Stasis is tops)
.Source (Move D's label)
.Kromode (Bochum Welt's old label)
.Otherworld
.Beam Me Up!
.Djax-Up-Beats (their orthodox IDM releases like the
Ismistik cd and the Optic Crux cd are wicked)
.Reflective
.Infonet (for the Reload stuff)
.Shield
.Op-Art (A.R.T. sub-label)
.Input Neuron Musique
.GPR (General Priduction Recordings, or is it records??,
they've got really nice releases i.e. Beaumont Hannant, Luke
Slater, Lagowski etc.)
.Rather Interesting (for their old stuff)
.Pure Plastic (some of their releases, mostly older, are
great i.e., the Pure Plastic compilation cd and Pure Plastic
003)
.Buzz (for the 'Virtual Sex' compilation)
.the 'Philosophy of Sound and Machine' compilation on
A.R.T.
.FAX (to some degree)

There might be more but I can't think of any right now,
Trelik and Ifach are wicked, more techno than "A.I. IDM" but
still has that 90's intelligent techno vibe to it. And of
course also old Rephlex i.e. the Synectics, Bochum Welt,
Kosmik Kommando, and the Chimera stuff.

that matrix surfer album by la synthesis looks interesting.
if there is a kind soul online who can put it in a lossless
format and load it to whatwaffles i'd be eternally thankful.
the prices with which this album goes on the discogs market
are ridiculous. :(

well since he's a cheap fucker, beatport won't do too much
good either.

also, goDel, make use of the request system on what - it's
wonderful. if you're cool enough that is.

This label is offering their music for free now. It's fun
90's, A.I. styled electronic music. Check it out if you guys
want to. Again, it's free so there is really no risk
involved.
