Im having a hard time "feeling" Quaristice and all. Im thinking it could have been a good ep but theres 20 tracks and most of them are Meh+.
I just spun the fuck out of draft and untitled and Amber was a most excellent mowing the yard album.
but Q. Im having problems.
Do I need an Autechre help line?

I feel the same, recycle. Especially following Untilted, which I played endlessly and is, in my opinion, one of AE's very best works. I guess I prefer the lengthier, more developed material to the shorter, sketchier stuff on Quaristice.
Don't get me wrong though, I think Quaristice is a damn fine piece of work. I do admire AE for trying something different and hope they continue to make music even after this.

Yes, even after this! It all depends if AE follows this path or tries something new again. I hope for the latter.
Glad I didn't bail on them after EP7 or Peel Sessions 2, which I think are their weaker releases. God, I would've missed out on some good stuff after that!

its good artists do new music. im not happy with new turns of everyone though. its only natural to wish for a certain consistency in styles you love. maybe its good there are some copycats around then...

yea, Quaristice-era material is refreshingly all over the place
none of it is polished to perfection, but all of it tickles my internal pleasure vagina

Wellllllllll, I don' know but Untilted was.. just the album, what 8 tracks, tight as a gant's chuff and, that, was reflected in the music, which was TIGHTER than a gnat's chuff who'd just had vaginal surgery ... whereas Quaristice is the Apocalypse Now [Redux] of electronica albums.. bloated, sprawling, repeats itself, over a billion tracks attributed to the same album.. I like its scale and scope, even if I don't like every track. I think they tried something "new" not just in terms of music, but the alt versions, the hour long tracks.. I like it, I play it a lot, whatever constitutes it, and that's the beauty of it, it's a bit.. hazy, where does it begin and end.. a bit woo "is it? isn't it?"

i agree somewhat. Some artists' work needs to change from becoming stale or predictable, but it's a risky move that could lose an audience.
It's not like AE is the only electronic band I love. I've found many other AE inspired (or copycats) musicians that I find just as enjoyable.
however...
I probably have a bit more emotionally invested into AE than other artists. It's the fond memories I had discovering abstract electronic music with their records, as well as the excitement of each new release to hear how their music developed. That's why I'd love for AE to continue.

i found it hard to accept but its not the rule for musicians to keep delivering forever. i wish we could just order our personal album consisting of theunreleased material from eras we like best
for example or certain styles, but mastering and manufacturing customized cd is near impossible. maybe internet shops could do it, if the artists would put out masses of material and let the fans choose. this would be heaven :)

They peaked with Confield and Gantz Graf. Even Draft, good as it was, was a step down from those.
Between Quaristice and the special bonus disc you can piece together a pretty decent album all around... but Quadrange was just lame.
