(sleep)Night terror shitness

I've had a few over the years but the pussy kind, usually
during a feverish cold or something. Last two nights have
been very different. Night before last i had a short dream
that felt very real. In this dream one of my eyes would not
open, it was kind of glued down by my own madness. I
honestly had absolutely prepared myself to die there in that
dream.

But last night was worse cos i wasn't even really dreaming.
Last two nights i've heard very audible sounds in my head
like lp sawtooth leads that go nowhere and snaps and
rumbles. It was at that point i drifted into dreams that i
knew were dreams. In them i see nothing but hear an
indescribably evil distorted ringing, a bit like a flute
that dosn't stop getting louder. It pours into my ears and
eyes and feels like cold milk or something. I know whats
happening so i try to pull myself out and it takes about 20
seconds. I can hear my screams coming out as hot breath and
trying to fully wake is like pushing a big stone until i
finally sit up. My head was hot but not that hot so i don't
think it's that. I've recently stopped smoking weed again
after having too much three days ago and i think it's this
but i've gone without before and this hasn't happened. I've
also been taking st johns wort and some say it's affects are
strange...but nah it's not that. IT'S FUCKING HORRIBLE.
Twice last night i tried to ride it out with reason and
logic but that dissolves the way reason does when you drift
off. There was a bit where it became a small dream and i was
a mad zombie that had gotten into a families log cabin to
destroy the children. I pulled myself out slowly again and
as i did i distinctly remember saying in my head 'don't kill
the baby it will drive you mad'. FUCK i feel perfectly sane
the rest of my day what is happening to me. help

AMPI: I'd try taking some nyquil or something and then read
until you're tired enough to sleep. Should put you out like
a rock without too many static dreams.

AMPI sounds shite mate. I'm no physician but i say its all
to do with the lack of smoking pots. Ive moved upto
inverness and scoring anything other than the poorest
quality rocky is a mission up here so i have been with out
for a while. Usually even if i dont smoke all day i'll have
a bit befor bed to ensure a peaceful nights sleep. In the
last few days, since ive had no smoke, I've had some
disturbing dreams too, including a nasty episode where i was
a new boy in a borstal type place and the other lads locked
me in my room and set it on fire, i woke up sweating
incredibly, to the point where i had to sleep on the other
side of the bed coz it was so moist in my prefered corner of
bedfordshire. so inconclusion PseudoDr Ging says : smoke the
pot before bed, or try a nice mug o horlicks. not sure about
st john wort never used it myself so have no reflections on
its applications.

is there any chance that you are somehow blocking your
oxygen intake or restricting blood flow in your arms and
legs?

there seem to be some similarities with sleep paralysis.

i have to give up da weed. it's bad for motivation. i smoke
it just like you (save it for the late evening) and it's
probably just clearing out of my system. cheers

YES!!! I woke up from the first one with a completely dead
arm. I couldn't even lift it and could bite my fingers
without feeling anything. I had to pound it with my working
arm until the blood came back. Thought it was unrelated tho.
Also the breathing is like i'm trying to take oxygen thru a
straw. I'll check that link. Thanks!

thats scary as fuck. when you feel the weight of an arm as
though it's severed from your body it's hard not to freak
out.

so it could be that you rolled over in your sleep trapping
an arm under your body

or

your body is in sleep mode (and thus programmed to remain
still) while your mind is awake.

ampi, you dont really have to pound it for the blood to come
back..
i get that many times with my arms, you just have to let it
lie downward or in a free position and itll flow back and
shit..

although it hurts really bad when it comes back, stinging in
the entire arm..

I had the louder getting flute thing too a couple of times,
but mine sounded like a distorted bell that would get louder
and louder until i close my eyes, and when i open them again
and stare and focus on an object in my room, the object
becomes lighter and lighter and the sound comes in again
getting louder and louder until i close my eyes again. I can
pull this off 3 times mostly until i suddenly realise i'm
fully awake.

I have suffered from sleep paralysis for as long as I can
remember and it doesn't sound like you have it. Do you smoke
cigarettes? If so, try not to have one for a couple of hours
before you sleep.

That kind of shit is horrible =(
I feel your pain.

I have had these kind of trouble for a long time now ( since
i quit smooking weed i think) .
A couple of nights ago i had this dream where i wake up from
sleep thinking every thing is great and then realise i am
still asleep/dreaming cause my apartment is all fucked up (
a big veird smiling face looking at me on the livingroom
wall for example) i try to wake up but cant so i go to sleep
again (in the dream) and i wake up again and yet again i am
still dreaming and i am totally aware of it , now i
eventually wake up for real in shear panic and everything is
normal.

Plus all kinds of veird things happens before i go to sleep
. For example i have these random bursts of adrenaline
rushes/mini panic attacks like 3 to 20 times every time i
try to sleep ,its like my body wants to keep me awake . Im
so used to it now that it only bothers me the second it
happens and the seconds after it takes for my heart and
breathing to go back to normal. But in the back of my head
im thinking "jesus! this really can't be good for me in the
long run" , how much of this can one take ? .

you're not blocking blood flow in your arm, you're sleeping
in a position that is compressing/interfering with the
nerves that allow you to control your arm.

don't take anything to suppress your dreams. if you have
trouble falling asleep since you've given up weed, take 50mg
diphenhydramine hcl (called benadryl in the us) 30-45
minutes before you go to bed. it won't interfere with
dreams, but it has a sedative effect that you will
appreciate.

your dreams will likely calm down soon.

it's just herb whitdrawls dude.

whenever you stop smoking after long periods, you get
incredibly vivid dreams, and just like any other dream,
sometimes theyre bad.

actually, i think it's more so that smoking weed daily
suppresses your dreams, and now youre just having to get
used to it again.

yes, but to be fair i was also on a lot of dxm at the time.

i woke up in my bed with every single person i had ever met
in my life just standing there, staring at me, juding me or
something.

drukqs was playing in my head and - well, you know in donnie
darko those weird spears that come out of people's chests? -
those things were flying out of people's heads, each one
representing a different note or drum hit or whatever.

and i couldn't do anything but lay there mesmerized and
somewhat terrified by the experience.

also, larn, i just realized, is your avatar that guy from
holy mountain? seriously fucked up film that one, really
excellent tho.
