hehe, didn't quite know what to expect after that intro
(although it is certainly novel to hear tuvan throat singing
in an electronic track) but i'm into this. i like the
variations in the bassline you throw in from ~7:00-9:30.

just one question: you're black, why aren't you producing
dubstep like every other person of african decent in
electronic music? :P

thanks!

this is some dubstep stuff - it's gonna be on a label later this
year though so that's just a ~1min sample. i called it
"nintendub"

One question though:
do they try to "act black"

d/l now Mr. "I cant find the gescom hat" picture.

offline hedphukkerr from mathbotton (United States) on 2008-09-18 15:42 [#02237998]
Points: 8833 Status: Regular

well if you're white you can do anything, just like in the
real world.

if you're black you have to have dreads and spin dubstep.

if you're white with dreads you have to spin jungle and/or
breakcore.

also, i like the nintendub, but might i actually recommend
dropping the subbass another octave or so, you really wanna
get those subwoofers rattling.

"act black"? well i dont know, if you're musician you're
already playing a role aren't you? if you acting black then
its just another role isn't it, another identity, lol

g/com hat i left it in a bag tho for months and its all
bent up, the bill is warped. i have to make another one
maybe w/ a better font, that font is fucking cheesy man

actually i think the simplicity works with it being
backwards.

unless you just took that with a webcam so its not really
backwards, in which case, do that with the next hat.

later in that song it cuts into this weird like metal-drum
cong sounding thing of course with bass dropping like
grenades and these weird sounds i just cut up, its cool .
then it turns into this like samba de amigo disco thing, i
have no idea what i was thinking. its not dubstep

i'm all for dubstep being not really dubstep - it doesn't
all need to be a 2 step beat with the dubby bass.

when i spin i like to throw in all sorts of obscure things
that just have lots of bass - mr. oizo - no day massacre and
radiohead - the gloaming being two of my favorite
tracks-that-arent-even-close-to-dubstep to play in a dubstep
set.

i dont even know what 'dub' means, doesn't it mean to copy?
is there another meaning for that word that means distorted
or something, or all delayed out? someone described
quaristice as 'really dubby'

hedphuk u wanna reccomend me some mr. oizo?

offline hedphukkerr from mathbotton (United States) on 2008-09-18 16:21 [#02238026]

dub basically refers to the genre of dub music, which is an
off-shoot originally. originally, a reggae track would come
as the a side single and on the b side would be an
instrumental version for live emcees to rap over, usually
heavily utilizing tape delay.

a dubby bass is simply one reminiscent of dub music.

in terms of recommending oizo, he only has two albums:
analog worms attack from 1997 and moustache (half a scissor)
from 2005. analog worms is much more analogue, b-boyish,
with skittering beats heavy on swing and deep bass.
moustache could essentially be called the beginning of the
ed banger sound, with huge mid range and snares made of pure
white noise. both are simply littered with incredibly
awkward beats that somehow still leave your head nodding.

what sabotaged your music ?? rubbish means like "it was
bad"? if you do it and try to be good, then you always have
to be improving - and that is so stupid . you got to
please yourself - be like a porn star and your dicks so big
you can blow yourself, lol . is it about survival and 'being
good'? sorry to rant off on that man
