I love the SID sound. I used to have an Amstrad CPC6128, which had a nice squarewave sound to it (or white noise too), so everything was a bit squarey and had a certain feel to it. Not as squelchy and good as a SID though.

This lot use the chip I was on about, the general instruments AY-3-8912. SIDesque little square wave jobbie, lovely sounds of my childhood.
Nice tunes too.

so far as I'm concerned, digital music hit a peak with the SID chip. I will always love that sound.. and I wish games made today still had music like that.

Ok here's a few SID tracks now, Golden Axe, Turrican and lastly Last Ninja III, they sound way better on the real hardware but it's better than nothing.
