september is a day away.
i've decided to quit drinking, smoking, and junk food. my body can't hack it anymore. im not a teenager anymore, the resilience is gone. i feel like shit everyday. i cough up shit every morning. fuck this. things have to change.
so..
are any of you experiencing the same thing? do you feel motivated enough to join me in this hard endeavor?
to the xlt regs, yeah i fucking know i've made threads like these before, but i made those before i was coughing up balls of lung shit and having chest pains.
LETS DO THIS.

Try dalloping a smidgen of poop on each beer can where you would put your mouth and dipping your cigarette and dorritos cases in the toilet. They'll still be there to consume just with a deterrent, so it would be senseless to buy more. I can supply the poop if you need some.

hey i know what you mean and felt the same a while ago and made a few changes myself. my advice would be to tackle one thing at a time and be realistic about it.
i quit smoking back in december. i know everyone's different but i would recommend taking 3 days aside (long weekend or something) where you go cold turkey. make sure you have nothing about to stress you out (work/relationships/etc - put that shit on hold) and keep yourself heavily distracted with alcohol*/videogames/porn/whatever. after the third day it becomes much easier. it took me really about 2 years to quit, but i think i've finally nailed it. i guess the only truth is that you can only quit when you really want to quit.
People will pressure you to quit. health officials will nag with reports and stats, your wallet will resent you for the financial implication. You want to quit because its the right thing to do. none of these will make you quit, unless you actually want to.
as for drinking, giving up drinking really is boring. try cutting down? i decided to stop getting pissed and not drink spirits anymore, seems to have worked.
and junk food, hell, fuck that. nice tho.
best of luck, let us know how you get on. defo only take on one thing at a time, keep it manageable.
*tips hat* :)
(*unless drinking makes you want a cig :))

noseburger made a lot of good points..
id also like to add that a change of other things in your life not related to the things you want ot get rid of, can also help..
like if you took a trip to another country and did other things, it would be a lot easier to stop eating junk food. you could start eating the local food etc..
now thats just an example, but i guess my point is, find new environment to be in, cuz when you end up in a lifestyle of computers, video games and just doing same ol' everyday, habits stick harder..

yes drinking makes me want a cig. they go hand in hand with me. i added booze to the list cause i drink on a daily basis, usually by myself at the computer. so thats a bad sign right there. im on my 12th beer as i type this. i feel fucking sober right now. ugh. *cough*
but yeah, i read your post and i understand completely, ive tried going clean alot before and my mistake was making a huge list of things to quit at once, and one fumble up made my mind justify falling back into that old familiar self destructive attitude.
but ive gained alot of weight, so junk food is the easiest on this list. smoking is the hardest bit. fucking hell is it ever hard.
i'll keep updated. i feel lucky in this situation because its the first where i have a girlfriend who is trying to change herself aswel, so i think we can motivate eachother.

drinking is fine if you can limit yourself to 2 beers max per day.
even eating a fat pizza every now and then is fine, if you eat a salad the next day. it's all about balance.
quit smoking immediately though and i'm sure it'll make a huge difference.
good luck.

whats the point of drinking anymore. i get nothing out of it. i could drink 20 more right now at this pace and all i'd be doing is making tommorrow a living hell. theres no buzz when i'm alone. im tying just fine but i stumble to the toilet to piss. fuck this shit.

to be honest, one of the major reasons behind this is that when i wake in the morning, i cant get a full breath of air, i cant get a full lung full, theres gunk there or something, i sound like one of those iron lung machines. i cough up colourful gunk all day. but quittings been on my mind for several months now, and will all the failed attempts, i can say that after a few days, this issue does go away and i feel better.

YES. I have to do this too. I've fucked myself up bad and look really ruff. 2 years of weed and sitting down + depression. First of all i reccomend getting rid of any kind of depression as best you can cos that shit makes it so easy to pity yourself and give up, or just take cover under bad comforts. Fuck i've got so many things to change at once, i havn't got the luxury of being able to take my time or focus on smaller aspects of change. I've got to go all ninja and shit. I'll save my comforting badnesses for once a month, make it a ritual cos i'm too hooked on that to never go back. BUT IF I'M EVER GOING TO HAVE THE LIFE I ALWAYS SHOULD OF I'VE GOT TO STAND UP AND ACTIVELY CHOOSE THAT. FUCK...BUT YEAH COS I'M GOING TO DO IT.
Imagine how you'll be a month from now, then 3 months, then a year, then 2! You'll finally be sorted but you have to put the work in to deserve it.

good luck, gwely.
it seems like you're already on the good track for overcoming this, but if you feel like it, you should check a torrentsite to see if you can find a copy of anthony robbin's personal power 2 program, as well. it gives a good explanation of why people don't do the things they know they should, or do the things they know they shouldn't. it presents some solutions as well, but knowing the why in itself is already half the solution.

This is probably terrible advice, but you might want to consider the dipping alternative. For me, the toughest habit to drop is the smoking ritual itself. (when frustrated, bored, during work breaks and dumps, after meals, sitting in traffic, etc. it's the lighting up I crave, it rarely feels like much) When you quit the smoking but supplement with smokeless nicotine, the first batch of cravings will only be psychological. Now that's a comforting thought! Then, after a couple weeks, pick a Thursday and drop it altogether. Sleep it off over the weekend.

Noseburger is right, you will quit when you want to and not before. Only you will know when you want to - basically, when you've mentally and physically had enough. Don't use other people as a barometer, they can't be trusted.
Personally I don't think it's a good idea to cold turkey, it's like a fad diet - never works. Just cut way down, then over a period of 1-2 years do it less and less. Eventually it will all taste like shit and you will realise you don't have a problem anymore.
