Megaman 9 will be Released Soon

i grew up playing megaman as a kid, so i was excited to
hear they were finally releasing what appears to be the last
installment of the classical megaman series... sadly... i
think the music is unimpressive, which was the main staple
of the games legacy. megaman 9 appears to be an attempt to
reinvigorate the nostalgia of what was a good game, but with
megaman 9 it doesn't appear to have any new modifications in
place. you'd think after so many years (since megaman 6, in
1993 the last to present the classical style) and with newer
technology they could've added a bit of a twist to this
game, so far it doesn't seem that way...

everyone who's played megaman knows the gameplay for megaman
remained basically the same throughout the series, yet still
managed to contain certain qualities for each game making
them particularly original from the other. i haven't played
MM9 so i can't say for sure what i think of it, but for now
it appears to be a thumbs down. heres a sample of it on
youtube
megaman 9

you haven't even played it and you're saying it's thumbs
down? :)
growing up with the original games and being a fan of all
the old 8-bit games, i'm really excited that capcom are even
bothering to make another 8bit styled game. sure, they might
only be doing it to milk the 8bit/chiptunes craze going
around, but at least they're giving fans what they want.
i personally can't wait to play this game for the first
time.

i really wish for the best, in regards to video game music
you dont get any better than capcoms electro music during
the 90's.

i can't call it jazz, although the music consists of jazz
and rock, i prefer to go with video game-electro pop. what
genre would you label megaman? (please dont tell me bitpop
or chiptune)...

Of course of course... the pattern is so blatantly
obvious... good stuff in past + easy money by parasitizing
off its popularity = complete shit remake. Did you see the
new star wars?

I'm sorry dude, but when the developers say it's going to be
the classic megaman, it IS going to be the fucking classic
megaman without fucking twists or anything. If it had new
twists like for example panning 3D Camera transitions or
fucking blood and robot parts hitting the screen, it would
not be classic megaman anymore. To me, the music still
sounds the same old classic megaman music, and i like it.
After loads of MM games, every game having quite a lot of
different pieces of music, i'd think they'd go flat on the
music a bit due to not having new inspiration anymore
without making the music sound like another MM level tune,
but so far i hear nothing but fresh bliss. Hell yeah i want
to play this game :) and i'd like to find out for myself
wether it sucks or not, thank you.

i'm sorry i'm going to have disagree and here is why sorry
excuse my lengthy monotonous explanation but there was no
other way to get my point across as to why i was let down by
the video. MM 1 was the first one, far be it from me to
critique the original game. then MM 2 comes around, 2 shared
a lot of the same things as 1, although 2 had a more defined
feel than its predecessor and most importantly thats when
the music began to take off. MM 3 & 4 is where the series
began to evolve at least in regards to the things you could
do with Megaman, he begins to slide, and i believe thats
where they introduced Rush and so forth. this is the time
and i think you would agree with me thats when classic
megaman reaches its peak in regards to the quality, its
music, style, gameplay etc... MM 5 had no momentum in the
series although the music had improved (something i would
think was impossible) the gameplay failed to deliver.
finally MM 6 included the jump suit which enabled megaman to
fly for the first time. now given all these things here
comes my counter argument as to why i'm not impressed by the
video and quite possibly the game

as you can see given my summary of the series that capcom
always tried to preserve its image, while at the same time
included modifications. all i'm saying i think after nearly
one and a half decade they could've added a little bit of a
twist (just as they've done in the past). i'm not saying
they should add any of the things you mentioned but it
wouldn't have hurt to perhaps carefully modify the game to
pull in fans who are not all that familiar with the series.
maybe even have it turned out into a Viewtiful Joe...
ok just kidding thats a bit of a stretch but yeah i'm just
not impressed with what i've seen so far. i haven't played
the game you're right. i shouldn't be such a pessimist but
after hearing what i heard and seeing what i saw, that
youtube video failed to impress. i personally hold cautious
expectations. any hardcore fan i think should, and thats
just my gut fe

your complaining about the 8-bit revival of a 1980s series
of videogame?

your idea of making something akin to viewtiful joe would be
awful. Im glad capcom is going straight up 8-bit nintendo.
its about time people stopped using shitty 3d graphics and
went back to the basics in a major commercial game.

no i dont want it to look anything like viewtiful joe, i was
just being sarcastic. although it wouldn't hurt to add
something different to the game, in the video i did see a
clone of megaman, that might be something new i dont know...
i'm still going to play the game with high expectations,
hoping for a good ending to one of my fav. games.

You... kind of have a point. I'd much rather something akin
to Bionic Commando Re-Armed. Now that's some well done
nostalgia milkage. Preferable to something a romhacker could
whip up.

Modern computing power should expand upon a classic game in
a GOOD way, basically start over from scratch at the NES
level and re-evolve in a different non 3d cookie cutter
direction. Keep all the 8 bit feel but just saturate
everything, like quadruple the different types of enemies,
each enemy has much more interesting/intricate behavior,
each enemy has multiple death animations/sounds randomly
selected each time. Make the frame rate much faster to
account for intricate quick animations (like one monster
could have each eye/mouth/arms each in a separate animation
loop out of phase with eachother so it constantly looks
weirdly 8 bit organic) etc

i couldn't say it better myself. what you said sounds like
the voice of reason, something that appears capcom failed to
do.

wMw's description sounds pretty awesome, i think.
i'm also going to have to say that megaman2 was actually the
games peak in regards to quality :) the game that had no
dog, chargable gun, or flying/muscle suits. unless capcom do
end up releasing a game that has some gameplay twist none of
us know about, i think they're making a game with the
simplicity of megaman2, before all the crazy other stuff was
added.

besides, at least it'll be better than this.

I don't think you should expect so much of an 8bit revival
of a game, it's not that everything old is better with a
splendid slab of 3D slapped against it. I think you're just
used too more newer games, and perhaps spoiled. What 'gaming
era' are you from?

not to the extreme of paper mario... my description isn't

side note the cover for the game looks great. which leads me

i never played that game, i had played "paper mario: the

similar, except the thousand year door is an rpg. i think
the one you posted is an adventure game.

yeah it is smooth, i think they go for the 'flowing
feathery' feel to the game, hence the name of the game.
although i think with some changes capcom can get that
heavy pixelated feel you're referencing. i agree in the
sense that 'crunchy' interface must be in place or else
there wont be anything classical about the game really... i
also wouldn't want the game to be like that entirely, but
only for certain aspects of the game, like maybe when you
fight a boss or something... viewtiful joe made good use of
the 3d side scrolling.

I don't know, i think that when i get told it's an 8-bit
remake, i'd quickly lose the feeling of the 8-bit game i was
expecting because of such 'new-age' aspects (if i can call
them that) and thus feel abit lied to. And besides, i really
WANT a second Megaman 2 game with a new weapon ability like
Rush clamping onto your armor, not the new age 3d remake
crap, that's what we have Bionic Commando for imo ;)

I have the megaman anniversary collection. i have tbh i
tend towards the later ones like 8. i was a kid in 86 and
enjoyed nes games just fine, but now going back i think snes
era is the sweet spot for me. its still 2d and plays more
or less like nes but the graphics are just nice enough. i
think the later ones are a tad less frustrating too gameplay
wise.

that being said, when it comes to ghouls & ghosts/ghost &
goblins or contra, i prefer the original nes versions to the
super versions.

well, mm8 was for ps1 and sega saturn, but it still has the

you serious? i couldn't play mm8. the levels were just
massive and all over the place. it totally didn't feel like
a mega man game for me :(
thinking about what wMw posted, it sounds more like what an
indie game developer would do. not something a major company
would be able to pull off with a full proper game (though i
would absolutely love it)
