A combination of things but possibly the biggest is the
nostalgic factor. There are a lot of sounds/electronic
melodies that take me back to my childhood in the early
80's. The only time I would hear electronic music would be
in the arcades of north wales as we couldn't afford
computers etc where I was from but I was hooked.

I got into 'rave'/acid music when I was in school and
everyone else was in to James and The Cure etc. and then my
mid to late troubled teens were navigated to the backdrop of
drum and bass along with Aphex and his Warp stable mates.

I know it is a cliche but electronic music has formed a
constant backdrop and been such an intrinsic part of my life
that I doubt we could ever be seperated.

The electronic sound of it, I think it sounds less noisy and
cleaner than real instruments plus with synths you can
create new fresh sounds, plus bass.

I like it because, since it is made by a machine it is more
easily transmitted over the internet.

cowbell lol... actualy i love electronic music for all the
abstract freedom and creativity which you get. The first
track which i ever heard, was on an old record player,
through my dads massive wooden speakers, i remember that
being a phat system. It happned to be aphex twin's
'didgeridoo' i was about 13 my older bro had bought it on
vynil not long after it was released and he kept telling me
how good this was, i never forget how it sounded, he turned
it up really loud and played it for me, i was just sitting
there in awe. My brother has always been enthusiastic about
new music, so i was lucky to get introduced to all the good
stuff early on

Seriously though, for me it went down like this. When I was
a young lad, between 12-14, I was listening to a lot of
rock, metal and punk stuff. Then I met up with this other
kid who had an older college sister that liked bauhaus, nin,
nitzer ebb and all that. So he was playing me nin,
ministry, front 242, (on CD .. I still only had cassette),
and I had never heard the type of fx and processing these
bands were using, or the detailed fast programming, and I
was pretty into it.

As I got older and my tastes matured a bit I moved from
Frontline Assembly and KMFDM to AE & Twin, but its still the
similar qualities that make me tend toward electronic music
more so then rock etc.

staz i know you didn't ask for our background intro
electronic, but i think it's interesting to hear peoples
stories. i have been actualy listening to classical music
allot these days, maybe i'm getting older, i find that i get
more emotional stimulation when i hear real accoustic
instruments

ha ha ha ha, you learned about nin and electronic music from
a girl. Girls aren't even real people.

I like complexity by richard dawkins definition: arranged in
a way that is unlikely to have arisen by chance alone.

And I like electronic music because its super awesum kool.

And I like staz's beautiful songs sung just for me >3

Thanks, and gay titties for all.

Electronic music is good because you can program it instead
of trying to perform it with your hands and emotions like a
dull person.

reread. i learned about it from the brother, who was my
age. he learned about it from his older sister. i
had little direct contact with the sister, as it would have
been uncool for her to be hanging out with us.

I like it because I like all good music regardless of how
it's performed. there just happens to be some genres within
electronic music I like (perhaps more) than acoustic stuff.

or: I don't know.

nothing that is particularly electronic. i like novelty, i
like sound, i like melody and harmony, i like nostalgia, i
like experiencing, i'm generally openminded about sound
sources and timbres, i like variety.

for these reasons i have been able to successfully import
electronic musics into my lifestyle.

the process of making it and appreciating it. It has the
easy ability to bring your mind to a very different place.
It's all so technical, but so simple at the same time. But
it's a weak-spirited movement, it's whole existence relies
on the fact that the power is turned on. I guess that makes
it beautiful in its own way doesn't it, like a person being
kept alive by a machine that pumps blood for them.

i remember that i was dreaming about extraterrestrials or
something and there was a tape at the supermarket called
Space Music, i asked and got it as bday gift but i can't
remember the age, perhaps 10 or something. the only track i
can remember on that tape is Mea Culpa..? the one with the
gregorian chant and the woman coming in it by Enigma. i had
countless wanks with that track but i was disappointed
because i wanted the one that i lately found to be Moments
in Love. that one used to make me fly.
