BANG!

7 isn't included seeing as it was simply the Praze-An-Beeble
remix of Ventolin, which, of course, has been released.

They're not as bad as all that. The low quality makes them
seem worse than they probably would be if produced for
release. I rather like em.

I love tracks 5, 8 & 13. I particularly like how track 13
goes from a heavily muffled boom to a clear screech (or at
least as clear as it can get) over the course of 3 minutes.

It'd be nice to have a proper quality version - like having
a new (old) hour-long album.

Joyrex doesn't get the point of having them remastered. He
likes the really low-quality muffled sound of the original
recordings.

that was a fascinating read, and listening to these clips is
a unique insight into rdj's workings, which i really
appreciate.

the best thing to come out of this maybe the knowledge that
one day we may get some sort of boxset containing similar
material! :D

big thanks to Joyrex for the great background story and
sharing them, and to boris and the watmm gang for the heads
up!

offline CowCudIsATwin on 2008-07-30 15:21 [#02226426]

Joyrex DOES want the tracks re-mastered, but he wants them
done right. Read the whole thread, he sent the whole MD off
to get a high-quality recording, to then be mastered from
that... then he'll hoard it again like a cunt and hold on to
the good quality full length tracks...

offline boris from Winchester (United Kingdom) on 2008-07-30 15:35 [#02226433]
Points: 188 Status: Regular

Yeah, probably. Someone who he trusts should convince him to
send them all the full-length high quality tracks and then
that person can send them to everyone else.

I picked ET.

offline Exaph from United Kingdom on 2008-07-30 15:55 [#02226438]

id prefer to sacrifice the full length tracks and trust
grant and rich on the boxset deal. i think they are men of
their word. and we have the samples still.

save green calx (which i havent heard of) all of them others
exist, and mfm wasn't even an official release. so yeah men
of their word.

offline CowCudIsATwin on 2008-07-31 13:14 [#02226683]
Points: 173 Status: Lurker

Agreed, men of their word for the most part, they never
promised to release any of these, they did put some copies
of AB5 in some stores I had heard, of course they were the
white label promos.

Analogue Bubblebath 5, Green Calx, and Q-Chastic all showed
up an official Rephlex discography at ONE point or another,
but may not have been completed projects (except AB5) and
maybe Q-Chastic is really just reference to the 'Philosophy
of Sound' tracks

Oh and ET is not someone Joyrex would trust with that MD...
Anyways it's been done and copied, so now we wait.

'maybe Q-Chastic is really just reference to the 'Philosophy

of Sound' tracks'

I know Grant said this is not the case, but Grant also said
the 'The Tuss' is not Richard.

Was Green Calx ever released at all? That has to be the only
thing I haven't heard from RDJ.

offline CowCudIsATwin on 2008-07-31 15:07 [#02226717]
Points: 173 Status: Lurker

Green Calx release was not released, just the track titled
that off SAW 85-95. You have not heard Q-Chastic 'release'
unless it's the 'Philosophy' tracks... If Q-Chastic was a
release, they are likely only on DAT buried away. This was
never pressed to vinyl as far as anyone's been able to prove
thus far.

I don't know why I bother even posting here, but...

The "remastered" tracks appear to be remasters of the
samples I posted - so they are remasters of MP3s. Correct me
if I am wrong, if FutureImage has the original source as I
do.

Second, "Green Calx" ended up being UI Green. No mystery
there... hence why it's never mentioned anymore.

Q-Chastic is a 4 track EP, and none of the tracks on it is
the one that appears on the ART2 CD. It did exist on vinyl
as a 10" test pressing on a 12" disc. It's existence and
contents was confirmed by not only Grant, but Richard
himself.

I have not sent the tracks out for remastering, as I have
been asked by Rephlex to hang onto them as they claim (which
I don't buy) they will be released with others in the near
future... read the rest of the thread on WATMM for the whole
sorted story. I was planning on releasing these as Richard
did at one point give me permission to release a few tracks
to the fans... but alas, it was never to be. Anyway, read
the thread before making assumptions about me, the tracks,
or whether or not I have high-quality versions or not.

id like to make assumptions, or, better,
id like to know things, true things,
without mistery (althought it seems impossible with afx
related things)
and
without having to read a 16 page thread...
anyway,
thankyu joyrex for the tunes.
i (we) dont hate watmm,
i (we) like you bother writting here.

Joyrex, you should post 1:30 minute clips of the better
audio recording (done by HiJexx) and post them so they can
be truly 're-mastered'

What would be the point of that - remastering an MP3 is like
making a DVD from a VHS cassette...
