What drum machine do you think is in this track?

for that matter, what do you think Rich is tweaking
throughout all the Tuss material, some of it is the 909,
maybe that drum machine stuff from "Taking Control" on
Drukqs?

Anyone got any info on the subject?

I don't think it's a drum machine at all. Most probably a
fairly fast LFO controlling a filter set with high resonance
to get that gurgling sound. Then the filter cutoff tracks
the keyboard where notes are sequenced to get the different
"pitches" of "drum".

There's way too many different drum sounds on Taking
Control. I know he used some Analogue Solutions drum modules
while making the album though.

the snare is probably made with a module or any synth that
has got white noise ^^

pro-tip: you don't need a drum machine to make beats

why is this song so good?

pro-tip: I used to use pots and pans as a kid. I'm thinking
of going back to that method if I can get a midi retrofit
kit.

i have a simmons sds5 that sounds just like the hats and
toms but idk about the sweeping res bassdrum. mebe an sds3
for the whole thing? he seems p fond of those. (never used
one myself but they seem more flexible than sds5)
could be the whole thing is made on synths tho.

if it sounds like it, then perhaps it is. meanwhile, he put
out an album with details on the gear used per track, and
maybe it's on there? are the same sort of things on syro
somewhere? that should be enough anorak fuel to keep your
ears squinting months

offline EpicMegatrax from Greatest Hits on 2016-08-09 04:23 [#02501689]

for months.

i never had the patience to dig up all those sort of
answers. sampled the casio sk-1 drums in taking control and
did a casio sk-1 track with it; felt clever. guessed at lots
else; felt like an idiot. so, i stopped. i'll recognize bits
of gear on anything i listen to and feel pleased with
myself, but i never really felt like i gained anything from
it other than jerking myself off a bit for picking it out.
like the sh101. i spent a lot of time with the sh101. used
it so heavily that my brain falls over itself to find
anything that sounds like an sh101 in the mix, and check
that the sliders are set properly for whatever else going
on. so i recognize it a bunch. then either the sliders are
boorishly set and i am annoyed, or they aren't and i've
recognized a piece of gear i already know about very well in
a song and there is nothing to do with this information
except talk about it on the internet. buy the simmons thing
or don't.

maybe it's one of the built-in drum sounds on a korg radius.
if it were, then what? would you go out and buy a korg
radius? it's alright

it's been years and everyone clearly squipped prast the
thread's very first reply, what about what futureimage said?
i would be slightly more interested in adding to my mental
library of modular ideas. or making a list of every
different way you can make this noise, whatever it is. i
still haven't gone and checked to see what this thread is
about, really

i do have a real question, though. how do you "blag" acid
out of an FM synth? i'm told it can be mustarded, but i
wouldn't know where to start

the snare could just be delay

consciousness is just a really long analog bbd delay. i'm
pretty sure i just heard prophet vs all the fuck over
arpanet's quantum teleportation. now i'm posting about it on
the internet. i really do want to know how to get acid out
of fm; preferrably in terms of dick in this i/o port and
what a sad sack i am etc. you know, the usual internet style

stretch him into a detroit house track

yeah me too.. i think its that you can fairly easily get
something that doesn't sound like a 303 but sounds
'acidy',lol

yes new dimensions in acid, i love the 303 but its first
port of call for everyone when it comes to acid, we all need
to find something else to add to the palette
