Is it really what we should be talking on right now, with so many social problems n'all? Before we can even consider uniting against the death of our luvly planet we need to at least be able to say hello to each other on the street without feeling weird.
Bottom line is there are brewing difficulties that push global pollution way back on the priority list. We need to work together for that shit, but that's not going to happen amidst *list current human conflicts/atrocities
Discuss
Also, no wmw style "humans are so shit we deserve everything we get" cliches. Sorry wmw i know it's cos we smell but forgive our humanity, we are so fragile.

Fo sure. We need to do everything we can to make this environment issue better. I just don't think it can happen until a whole list of other things are sorted. I see the current eco crisis as a test of humanities social integrity on a global level. If we don't sort it out together we all die or get really cold ect. So there.
This rant is really more about how the eco stuff is a fashionable issue and other problems that are maybe more of an emediate problem don't get sorted cos they're more tricky/ less hip.

i think the new opium for the masses is ecology. we are all encouraged to turn off lights and recycle stuff or whatever to makes ourselves feel better, but really the only action that will make a difference has to be taken on an international level by various governments imposing strict regulations. but they won't do it cause it means fucking up economic growth.
we don't know what's going to happen, i just hope the consequences of climate change (which IS real) aren't too destructive.

Lets put our clothes back on and consult a popular rapper that when faced with global crisis dosn't use it as an excuse to wave his nob about.
BustaRhymes says: "By investing in renewable energy and energy efficiency, and increasing the efficiency of the cars we drive, we can take essential steps toward reducing our dependence on oil and other fossil fuels that cause global warming".

Well that is one reason to move toward renewable energy. Another one is that we are going to run out. Plus the cost of fuel is insane right now.
My company is supposed to be a green enviro-friendly company, but they just bought this new delivery van that is like a huge urban assault vehicle. Not hybrid or anything.
Making good decisions on the small stuff will add up. It's got to come from a change in culture stimulated by awareness. New regulations would help too but selling people on change is the most important.

True. Isn't the renewable energy stuff pretty much sorted now. The technology is already here. I can't wait to run a vehicle on my own piss.
Also i heard something about scientists developing a gas that captures all the evil going-to-destroy-our-world particles and they come down in the rain and then just fuck off. Can anyone elaborate on this?
Oh and i saw a doc ages ago that showed this huge experimental inflatable solar dish that absorbs energy and beams it down somehow. Sounds good to me.

AMPI i'm with you on this one. I hate the words green and organic, its jus shite that is forced in the faces of middle england to make them feel better about being twat farmers, and makes eco hippy-crits even more self rightous and prick like, i got a lecture from a hippy-crit once about how bad it is to drink imported bottled water, all the while said hippy-crit was slurping from a bottle of imported swedish cider. Enviro issues are real but also unstoppable. Its asinine to think that by the mighty west becoming Eco friendly global issues will reside, theres a far greater impact to come from third world countries developing than there is from the west continuing on its merry path of destruction. the damage we have now is the result of the last 100 yrs of industrial revoulution from a relativly small percentage of the global population, in another 100 yrs once china and the likes are done the globes gonna be super fuct, and all our self motivated good doing now is gonna be shit out on our own heads.
in all be sensible, recycle, re-use, go out and grow your own food, pick fuckin berries and buy a more ecconomical car, use a bike turn off lights and save bastard electricity, but dont let eco pricks tell you to do it for the sake of a doomed planet, do it because its enjoyable, saves yourself money and you might make a new friend while your doing it.

It sounds a bit iffy but the fine upstanding gentlemen talkin on this documentary seem really sound and spend time carefully proving their point. It also talks about the eco fanatics ect. humans are very important if they can just realise they hold much incredible knowledge that took billions of years to get it understood and writen on paper.,
good and bad.... love and hate. for example. we all know deep down what is right and wrong.
and soon humans will be able to alter and rearrange atoms . designing the universe.. so we need to be sure the good people are in control of that PC which commands. to arrange a universal system that will keep everyone happy and there be no need to fight and destroy only create and do good for each other.
if all humans die.. it might take another few billion years until this knowledge is communicated in words and educated. billions of years of struggle and wars
need to fix the planet ASAP in doing so, joining together to solve the issues will most definitely bring all the countries together, you know how it is when there is a storm or a flood you help the people in trouble ..we are all in deep donkey doos ..we need to visulaise the potential future earth and treat it like a world war effort only together and peacefully.

Has anyone read that Club of Rome Document "The first global revolution" ? Appartently it's just a hoax for population control.
"In searching for a new enemy to unite us, we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming, water shortages, famine and the like would fit the bill ... All these dangers are caused by human intervention and it is only through changed attitudes and behaviour that they can be overcome. The real enemy, then, is humanity itself."
The Club of Rome is a "think tank" (group of people paid to help overlook policies for groups like government and business's) that has many Imperialistic bed fellows.
Bill Gates, Ted Turner, and David Rockafeller just to name a few. Also one of it's main members is Al Gore.
"...we need to get some broad based support, to capture the public's imagination.... So we have to offer up scary scenarios, make simplified, dramatic statements and make little mention of any doubts.... Each of us has to decide what the right balance is between being effective and being honest."[2] Stanford Professor Stephen Schneider

I get what your saying freq but it aint the planet that needs fixing, its humanity.
Over the billions of years this planet has been going its been in soo many different states... at one point, so they say all the land masses were together, or was there jus world wide drought caused by dinosaurs wasting water that caused sea levels to drop soooo dramatically. At another point there was so much water only the peaks of britans moutains were above sea level, but Kevin Costner wasnt there. At other times Devon was goegraphically higher than Scotland fact is the planet keeps changing we jus have to keep adapting and as oxygenfad has said all the BS thats fed to us is about domination....
Also I'm stoked to hear that its been said nuclear power is the most viable alternative enegry source for the near future, not so keen on British energy being controlled by french government tho. but i'll deal with solong as the eco freaks get upset.
Also how many wind farms and hydro stations would we build befor the greenies complained we were detroying the look of the countryside and habitats.... nucular energy is green...litterally from what i see on the simpsons!!
AMP, i'm off out for a ride now, but i'll have a toke and check the link when i'm home.
hit me up on emm ess enn if u wanna bitch about green or organic anytime!

why is everyone so dedicated to the environmental aspect of global warming? why dont we focus on the economical aspect of it? the CO2 emissions are our best indicator of the pressure humans put to the ecology. the way of living which is not in balance with the rest of the nature - and will in the end - damaged our western economy (or way of living). We will sooner or later have to leave the path of oil-based-economy, whether or not is due to CO2/global warming.

See, i don't think you need high up evil takeovertheglobe bastards to control society. You just need fashion and that's exactly what this is. Evil corporate people may have powers of all kinds but they don't usually have the power to initialise a fashion movement in a free western country. Even in the cases where they have it's usually best to simply take advantage of a current trend. I don't know about you but the current environmental crisis certainly hasn't been fed to me by anything other than middle class fashion. Jon snow on channel bum news is middle class fashion, not the controlled pupet of a perfectly organised system with dodgey agendas. I'm tired i'll make my point more clear another time like.

The guardian. The times isn't soooo bad. I don't read a lot. I have an itchy boil :(
The whole thing was sold to us by simple everyday people over concerned about an issue. The thing that made it massive was that the whole environment thing is so awfully noble and moral. People like to wear that on their sleeve alongside buying eggs that don't come from tortured chickens ect. It's all about image. When you've got something that infectious and powerful then you don't need evil puppet masters to control things.

I agree with what you are saying AMPI MAX. I've heard some people call it "Fashionable Opinion". A lot of it is created by PR firms and think tanks (like the club of rome). At the top you have the people it benefits, and the rest is , in a sense , all self governed by a 'fashion' like you are talking about.
Governments have used these tactics throughout history. It's easier to create now though because the powers that be own all the major media companies. I'm sure you can imagine the thousands of meetings that go on world wide where someone on the board of directors tells their advertising team "We got to go green. I want this show people that we are green.".
Though it is not declared, the goal is to brainwash people.
It's like National Socialism , the Communist threat of the US, or anything else. These fashions are engineered by request of the person it will be benefitting most.
So of course General Electric, a huge weapons manufacturer and also owner of NBC, doesn't want Jay Leno to have a guest speak out agains the war or even mention GE, as Harvey Pekar proved.

I don't think it's that extreme. I think that companies these days typically tend to stoop to what the consumer wants. It wasn't propaganda posters and distorted media that started all this, it was everyday folks getting on their highhorse. Then the ads and media coverage came and gave it fuel but to no ends other than personal gains. I doubt they have all come together and developed a mutual mega plan.
This is all me just blabbering on.
