hard normal daddy

correct me if i'm wrong, but i get the impression that hard
normal daddy is somewhat frowned upon in the 'idm community'
(whatever that is).

squarepusher is one of the most uneven and eclectic artists
i've ever heard. during the course of a random squarepusher
album you get served everything from utter shit to the
fucking sublime. not so in 'hard normal daddy' imo. it may
not contain his best songs, but it's his most cohesive. well
that's my opinion anyway.

well, it's uneven, but when that album shines, it shines
fucking amazingly.

well it may not be frowned upon, but it doesn't seem to get
ranked among his best. i see it as one of his best ALBUMS
because of the aforementioned cohesiveness.

yeah i don't know where you got the frowned upon thing, the
impression i've always gotten is that it is regarded as one
of his best, most consistent albums. i actually think is has
a much lower wank to god ratio than most of his other studio
albums.

Probably my favourite Squarepusher album, hasn't aged well
though.

I'm not a massive fan of the instrumentation but the timing
and progression of certain tracks is really outstanding.
I've always wanted to remix a few of them.

coopers world, beep street, e8 boogie and male pill pt 13
are some of the best tracks he's written imo. One of my all
time fav albums.

haha, i totally got the exact opposite impression to you. i
always thought hard normal daddy was regarded as one of his
best and as a result i always tried to give it extra
attention. it took a little while for it to kick with me
because i always was expecting something more.
all this said, it is a good album :)
