one thing that depresses me, is that: ok, we analyze all these problems with religious thought, but what can we actually do about it? we can't force people at gunpoint to renounce their faith because: a) it wouldn't be an honest statement from them & b) it would make us fascists but i don't anything changing through "dialog" or "discussion". so i dunno, seems like everything is fucked. |

i have had arguments with religions friends that go around and around in circles. "if there's no god, you're saying the universe just came out of nothing." "well, you're saying god just came out of nothing" "no, god has always existed" "maybe the universe has always existed" etc, etc, etc... my main argument is always that it makes more sense that things become more complex over time, so it doesn't make sense that the first thing in the universe was a perfect being capable of creating everything else from the get-go. |
