i just received this warp mart newsletter

'Another curveball release (and first US signing) on Kode
9's Hyperdub that steers left of its affiliated dubstep
sound to head up LA's instrumental hip-hop section.
Samiyam is fast becoming a key figure within this exciting
hip-hop scene. As well as releasing his 'Rap Beats' album,
he also collaborates with Flying Lotus as FLYamSAM. His
'Return EP' is a tasty four tracker that's full of slabs of
catchy lo-fi synths and post-Dilla style beats. Highly
recommended!'

it's here

then i went here and enjoyed those a lot.

I bought the ep on hyperdub, I'm really happy of all this LA
abstract hip hop revival.... I've got the Mowhake Heeters if
you want Mooken..

i asked it to a dude on lastfm who is adversing his dnb
remix alot but he refused me a link cos he said the vocalist
got angry with lotus and he had to take it down. he said
only a few actually managed to do a remix with that file.
how sad i said.

lotus-ish to me.

Replica? How so? Those guys Flyi Lo, Ras G, Samiyam Gaslamp
all help each other out but they've all got their own sound,
no doubt.

i'd say they have their own style sharing the same sound. if
this is the case, i like the idea of them working together
for a concept. it's making music together, or working hard
for something but.. together. that's something we're not
used to hear, for sure.

i wasnt saying it was bad or anything, they are just close
to sounding the same with flylo as the originator. i did
like a few ras g tracks, especially that afrikan space
project thing.. that sounded fresh. the gaslamp killer i
only know from the two compilations he compiled.

it is interesting tho, i've been following the la
alternative/mpc musician scene for around a year now.. and
it is indeed interesting to see the development in the
genre, its merging a lot of different things. inspirations
from mpc musician j dilla and the fast paced minimal dubstep
martyn.

i'd recommend you to check out gudrun gut, hudson mohawke
and.. yeah well, basicly listen to dublab.
