friend of mine just showed me this.. I thought some of you might find it interesting.
The first video isn't very exciting but the 2nd one is a bit more impressive.
check it out

im fully expecting most people to hate it. I personally wouldn't spend the time learning how to play melodies on this thing when I can play them faster and with greater precision on a real piano. Still, its fun (for me) to ponder what this device might eventually evolve into.
at any rate, the purpose of this thread was not to persuade others to purchase it, but simply to relay the fact that this thing exists.

i actually liked the first video better. seems more interesting using it for purposes like than rather than just playing something on piano. i especially like how you can just raise your hand to a higher level to activate that note, like how he goes about turning off the different parts in the end of the first vid.
i can only imagine devo making a video with one of them using this thing in just the robotic manor as the demo guy does.

I agree it's more exciting to be able to interface the device with a program like ableton than to just play piano songs on it, however its ability to control devices like ableton seems very limited, to the point that I wouldn't even bother with it. Perhaps in time we'll see a more robust array of features/abilities on it

yea who cares what that guy is doing with it, you could do all sorts of awesome stuff using that as a controller.
the elimination of actual keys opens up microtonal possibilities, controlling VSTs could be more expressive that knobs & sliders, and you would look super idm using it on stage.
