gallo and wild planet nooooooooooooooooooooooo continuous
echo disappearing down a black hole
embarrasing

show's how important Rob Gordon was to the WARP vision and
also how important Rob Mitchell was, not to disrepect Steve
Beckett at all - but it was a team once

they were a great label and now they're not, they have great
moments tho and long may that continue

or similar label i cant remember didnt buy em think they
were in 93/94, they were different and pleasant but they are
enough, you dont need more, look on discogs.com rather than
ask me

kind of agree with that long list, diamontron, xcpt that
autechre semi bashing + you need to treat yourself with a
copy of Bytes : its a classic!

what i blame warp for is for missing the whole wave of
glitch/noisy music that mego & touch are well known for.
sure they did put out those merzbow/hecker collabs with
r.haswell but they miss the whole fennesz/pan sonic/ambarchi
waves.

they might think indie pop is the future but at the end of
the day, pieces of their catalogue are kind of ugly.

i dont agree with that list at all (haswell + hecker, for
example, is pure garbage), but whatever. lots more good
stuff on warp if you're into more than purely electronic
music.

offline notmyname from France on 2008-07-02 10:44 [#02219303]
Points: 683 Status: Lurker

i dont think that "non pure electronic music = garbage" but
indeed many of warp pop acts.. well i dont bite into that at
all.
ten years ago i might have tried a new warp artist, nowadays
i just know out of experience its not for me. still respect
to them 4 signing aphex/autechre/squarepusher/boc a while
ago.

no comment on the H/H being "pure garbage"

i listened to that new haswell/hecker ep, i cant say i found
it very interesting.
not because i would call it 'noise', but because the sounds
themselves didnt give me anything, contrary to what the
boomkat reviewer said.

@diamondtron

question about david moufang, he released one ep on warp
right? i believe it was cymbelin or something, i was quite
surprised to find move d in the warp discog as well. why the
fuck do they release the same ep cymbelin under the move d
alias and then his real name? this seems rather strange.
also, is it worth/possible getting?

i love how a record label, who's prime objective is to sell
records can sell out by trying to sell too many records.
hahahaha. classic.

Oh my- thought they could get away with it being away from
home did they?

Cheeky bastards.

At the end of the day, it is a record company, not a
collective of passionate musical artists.

Also, would we have heard of Aphex Twin and Autechre and
such if not for Warp?

Probably I guess.

At wht point that Warp was around had it not sold out,
though? Again, it's a record company, not a charity! Its
purpose is to make money. Not serve the people.

just to bring things back on topic, if warp can cooperate
with sprite. which tasty beverage could rephlex work with,
or skam?

for excample, merck should've struck a deal promoting flat
coke while they were in business. both are equally exciting.
sublight, well, any brand thats big in the computergaming
community

offline jules from United States on 2008-10-16 16:11 [#02246103]

pepsi is about to totally revampo their entire identity so
it is a good time for warp artists to chose pepsi or coke
and then start creating ads
