oh cay, with the 'spring forward' thingy coming up (which
had nothing to do with my train of thort!) this is quite
topical, but it screwed with my head a bit....

how freaky wud it be if there were 10 hours in day and 100
minutes in an hour!? Can u imagine it?

Maybe there could be 10 days in a week, 3 weeks to a month,
and then some number like 10 months to a year....

y did we hav to use crap numbers like 60, 60, 24, 7, 31, 12
and 365?

'cause the number three has scientific precedence, and the
number 10 only has mathematic significance- we didn't invent
3's relationship with nature and matter and all that, the
only reason why we count to tens however is ...
well...
hold up your hands, and i'm sure you'll figure it out

the only reason 10 has significance is because we decided to
live life using base 10

sorry if you want i can go into depth explaining why we have
so many days in a week etc.. etc.. and all that- but i
really shouldn't have to, i mean, it's not like i get paid
to ramble on like this, i just have no social life

Blame the ancient Sumerians for 60 - they had a mad counting
system.

the number 7 is so popular among so many different cultures
because that is the number of moving objects in the sky u
can see (or, the ancient people who influenced our
culture/numbersystems) with only the naked eye:
venus
mars
saturn
jupiter
the moon
the sun
...hmm..i cant remember #7, maybe it was earth itself
(if its NOT earth, and u can name the seventh 'hevenly body'
please post it!)

hehe.. remember the simpsons when the intellectuals take
over control of springfield? ...and they switch to metric
time?
haha... lol

mmm... ya thats about all i can contribute to this thread :
)

I like how comics have a special DOUBLE SIZE or HOLOGRAM
cover at certain issues. 50, 75, 100, 200, 300, 400, 500,
etc... numbers are weird.

It's also funny how people celebrate their 10th anniversary
like it's SOOOO much more important than their 9th or 10th.
We are weird people.

i personally like the twelve. instead of clocks to 10 hours
we could could change our number system to base twelve.

It's very easy to use 12 for counting as well...(and hence
60)...

Hold you hand up...Each of your fingers has 3 parts so to
count to 12, use your thumb to tap each pad and count & you
go up...easy...

Using 2 hands, you can keep store of each time the inital
hand goes beyond Twelve (using the same scheme with the
other Fingers & Thumbs)...

You can easily count to 12 * 12 this way...144...

Thats a crap explanation, but give it a go...Shows Base 10
is the only "natural" counting system...

Nie little party tricky anyway....
