Doesn't really matter. As you say they are both similar. I love my PS3 but I don't mind my Xbox either.

i am considering a 360 for the near future but brisk said to get a ps3 since it will have some reallysick games like metal gear solid, but then, xbox ALREADY has at least give games that got rated 9 to 10 on ign.com, plus it's a lot cheaper.
i dont want to pay a load more for a ps3 just because it has bluray. standalone blu ray players are becoming affordable rapidly.
one game i'd really miss on xbox would be a new wipeout.
what kind of games are you buying one for?

Also, the Dual Shock 3 is out now so one of the major reasons for a female choosing the xbox over the ps3 has been addressed.

hah, IGN.com are rediculously biased. I mean the 360 has some good games but they have given far higher scores for some games than they should have.

Exactly!! I mostly like horror games, or first person shooter.... call of duty 4 is awesome, the new gta isn't all that great but I'm really looking forward to playing that new game Jericho, which Clive barker helped make.
And yeah the rumble packs are a plus, but ps3 will be getting those soon.

i read their reviews pretty critically since i buy wii games based on them and for me 4 out of 5 times they are incredibly helpful and spot on about many things.
besides that, all the games i just mentioned seem to be liked quite a lot on this board as well.

Bioshock is out for the PS3 in a couple of months, Assassins Creed is already out, GTAIV is out, Halo 3 isn't that good and MGS4 is going to be something special, hopefully FFXIII is going to be good anf Little Big World looks stunning.
Personally I don't like FEAR that much, which leaves Gears of War the only XBox title that I would miss.
Actually I would get a PS3.

Where'd you get the idea that you can't play and drink at the same time?
I'm pretty sure that in a month's time, zeitgeist will have made sure that a sociologist does a study where he compares the statistics for hardcore gaming and early signs of alcoholism in young people, and finds a remarkable coincidence. Mark my words.

Oh, and get the ps3. The possibility of full hd, its media-server capabilities, controllers that you can recharge without having to buy extra stuff and the fact that it doesn't fail quite as often should suffice as reasons, but the fact that it actually has more than one game is also a good reason. Don't be fooled: 360 games are all the same game, but with different textures and sometimes an "unique" weapon.

yea, i like clive barker and hellraiser and all, but jericho wasn't very good.
resident evil 5 is gonna be the game for horror i think. not sure what else is out not for 360. condemned is pretty creepy, dead rising is more silly than scary & the darkness is fps but has some horror elements.
i still play resident evil 4 and doom 3 from time to time.

I bought a 360 few weeks ago after a while of consideration. Apart from MGS I'm not that impressed by the exclusives Sony managed to scoop. Also I don't care about some Blu-ray, multimedia-center box. I wanna play games and the 360 is nicely priced for that.
Only downside to my purchase is it has this drive which is the most difficult to hack drive of all X360 versions. I'd have to chip it. :(

The 360 has an awesome library, but going forward, the PS3 is getting pretty much every worthwhile game and the better exclusives. The 360 exclusives aren't as good as the PS3's. Plus most 360 ''exclusives'' aren't exclusives at all, they're available on PC. Can't play Metal Gear, Uncharted, Little Big Planet etc on PC.
Plus the PS3 interface is just nicer, and like Drunko Mastey said, it's a very good media server. And some models have full backwards compatibility. And you don't have to pay to play online.
GoDel- ''there's even some metal gear! what more would you f-ing need? ''
Ugh, the NES Metal Gear is an abortion. But you can play the REAL original Metal Gear on PS3 if you get MGS3:Subsistence, boomshakalaka

Oh BTW Tragedy... Siren on PS3 is one of the scariest and definitely the most difficult survival horror game. It's very similar to the old school Resident Evil/Silent Hill games.
I played the PS2 game and couldn't get halfway through it so maybe it's too hard.

If you can afford a decent PC, PC/Wii combo is the way to go. All the best games for the consoles eventually hit PC (with the vastly superior mouse and keyboard to control), and the Wii has some really fine games that you'll never play on anything else.
Fighting and racing games probably play better on a console than a PC, but the Wii has and will continue to see it's share of those as well, so really all your bases are covered.

they're both really good and i'm sure you'll be happy whichever you buy.
i chose xbox360 because:
1. a lot of my friends have one (about 10 friends i know have one - i only know one person who has a ps3) - so it's great for xbox live.
2. half the price.
also, if you like horror games and zombies and stuff, then you must check
left 4 dead which i believe is going to bean xbox exclusive. 4 player co-op zombie killing game and you can also be a zombie too.
