The Wii is crap. I never play on mine now. In fact I am
giving it away to poor people hit by tornados.

most of the games for it are total, total shit.

but I've enjoyed Super Smash Bros, Mario Galaxy, Resident
Evil 4, Metroid Prime, and Zelda.

ditto.

In fact I probably would have bought a 360 already, except
for the fact that just thinking about contributing to their
monopoly makes me ill.

It's got some good games for real. But now it seems that PS3
is catching up, and if the prices go down a bit more, I
might just have to buy one.

I like umbrella chronicles. Bustin zombie heads without
analogue sticks feels special.

the xbox 360 is complete garbage, i can't believe so many
people are still buying these things.

sure, the system has some great games. but it is the most
faulty, disfunctional, cheaply made video game system in the
history of video games.

there is an entire list of things that will go wrong with it
over time.

test three games you like on both, make your decision, and
if you don't like it, blame me.

it's easy: ps3.

the 360 only has exclusives that also come out for the pc.
plus, as the horny boys up there mentioned, you can
masturbate with the ps3 dual shock

Well I'm really enjoying my 360 now, mainly for its PC
ports. Whether they can be played on PC or not is irrelevant
to me, because I hate sitting by a computer to play games, I
hate having to upgrade all the time, and I prefer the analog
control of a pad to directional buttons on a keyboard.

I think if youre not a big gamer, or dont really like Metal
Gear Solid, then go for the Xbox 360, it's just got a wide
variety of games.

I got a Ps3 for the MGS4, I've always been into MGS, even
though iven never even played MGS2.

and i just like Playstations, but if i had the opportunity,
i would have bought a Xbox since i'm not a game fanatic

And Nintendo has a history of doing more evil, greedy and
unfair things than Sony or MS' game divisions ever thought
of doing.

Though EA is hot on their heels...

tragedy- Condemned 2 is for PS3, Condemned 1 is 360 only. 1
is much better than 2, it was actually my first 360 game.

The monopolistic Npire practiced dirty business and
licensing tactics, until Sega bravely sacrificed themselves
to weaken it, then Sony heroically took up the fight to
liberate the third parties with the PS1 HURRAH!

Hiroshi Yamauchi made MS's game division look saintly

PS3 out of those two, X-Box has better games for now but the
PS3 will win out in the longrun... but i'd honestly
recommend the Wii over either of them. Those two consoles
don't really offer anything new to gaming apart from
improved graphics...

Smash Bros is worth the purchase alone!

And remember the Wii hasn't really reached its potential
yet... needs more 3rd party support but i have a feeling
things are going to improve over the next year or so

I read a very interesting book some years ago, detailing the
history of Nintendo of America (NoA) and the conquest of the
Western markets for Nintendo during the 80's. There was all
kinds of weird stuff going on. It was a good read, too. I
can't remember the title even though I tried looking at
amazon...

I get this at work all the time. It really depends on what
you want.

In terms of gaming, the 360 is better just because it has
more games and developers are in better control of the
technology because it's recent. In terms of third party
software, both systems are dead-on, and ps3 ports have
caught up to 360 ports as of late. Of course, the 360 will
be succeeded in a few years by whatever Blu-Ray fueled
system they're cooking up, and who knows what they'll charge
for it, or what lovely Red Rings or New RINGS of Death we
can expect from this one. Also, Wi-Fi requires a $100 USD
adapter (or a Wireless HUB) and you'll pay $50 a year USD
for online play. That said, 360 has a great online community
and their network is well made, so you get what you pay
for.

The PS3 is supposedly good for another 8 years, and has
wi-fi built in and free online play - something that Sony
hopefully won't change anytime soon since it keeps money in
their loyalists' pockets. The technology behind the PS3 is
solid, and i'm getting no problems with them whatsoever
where i work. However, the PS2 backwards compatibility was
nixed in the newest model, and while the upcoming 80 GB for
MGS4 will be BC, it's capabilities will be limited and not
as stalwart as those of the departed 60GB.

In addition, many PS3 games require an install before play,
usually taking from a couple to multiple GBs - this means
faster load times of course, but it can put the crunch on an
HD real quick. But the good news is that I've heard of
people expanding PS3 drives without even opening the damn
things, and you can pretty much use any sort of flash drive
on the damn thing. Also, the multimedia supports most audio
and video formats, and the Blu-Ray player sure is pretty. In
fact, the PS3 is the best you can buy of these high-ended
new-fangled media devices which require a TV i'll never
afford to truly appreciate. And an $80 cable.

So.. the bottom line...

Games, Online - Xbox 360
Longevity of Hardware, Multimedia - PS

Now let's talk games. Plenty of third party games will be on
both, and there's a lot of good ones coming.

Prototype
Resident Evil 5
Silent Hill Homecoming
Mercenaries 2
Alpha Protocol
Soul Calibur IV
Legendary
Alone in the Dark (later this year for PS3)
Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution
Prince of Persia (squeeeeeee!)

And now, exclusives....

Xbox 360:
Too Human (and it's sequels)
Halo Wars (meh)
Fable 2
Gears of War 2
Banjo Kazooie 2
Viva Pinata 2

PlayStation 3:
Resistance 2
Siren Blood Curse
Killzone 2
Motorstorm Pacific Rift
Final Fantasy XIII
Metal Gear Solid 4 (double squeeeeeee!)
Tekken 6
The Last Remnant
God of War 3

Here is another big selling point.

What do all your friends have? You will want to be able to
hook up w them online, trade games, etc.

It really is. After Mario Galaxy, which admittedly was
great, I haven't touched mine either. I don't really
understand it when people say that all the other consoles
offer is better graphics, while the Wii offers something
new. The Wii offers nothing new that's worthwhile; it just
offers some waggle nonsense to enable mums and grandpas to
enjoy its basic, ugly, short-lived party games with their
families. It's just like pressing a button, only you flick a
stick. Waving a remote around to do the same things buttons
or a mouse or an analog stick can do does not make a gaming
experience more tactile or immersive. HDTV 1080p and
surround sound DO, however, and the Wii offers neither of
those. Maybe I'm a graphics whore, but whatever. I'll take
more power over the Wiimote any day. Maybe if it had been
implemented better I'd have a different opinion, but it's
been long enough now, and Mario Galaxy and Zelda and all its
other games would have been fine without the tacked on Wii
controls.

You know, I was excited when I first saw the Ryu and Ken
sprites, but everything after that has been horrifying.
Spastic animation with frames that don't work together,
cheap backgrounds that look like a bad flash cartoon... I'm
still going to buy the game, but I'm scared.

Conversely, I initially thought Street Fighter 4 looked bad,
but every time I see it it looks better and better, and
apparently the new characters are extremely fun to use.

wii, ps3 , x360 are all essential but you're not likely to
buy all 3. it'll be frustrating just to have one. that's the
competition these days! it was so easy when it was ps2, and
N64/SNES before that. I advise you to get one of those old
systems on ebay coz they're almost always just as good and
sometimes better. wait till the next big thing comes out and
wii/x360/ps3 are obsolete and get all 3 for the price of
one. better yet just buy a cheap midi drum machine alesis
hr16 and synth with internal sequencer korg ex800 or
something. thats a $200 option and loads more fun!
