hello, does anyone know how to this when browsing through files in finder, i think i can do it with videos and stuff just not with audio. seems like it should be really simple, am i missing something?

haha i was missing something; in column view you actually click on the big icon above the file info - it doesnt become obvious until you hover over it. how daft is that? thats a hidden feature imo.

actually for those that care; in leopard, in the same view as above you can click on the 'eye' button which brings up an opaque preview window, if u leave this open when using the arrow key to browse through audio files it will automatically preview them
