Brilliant, quirky slice of genius from Lars Von Trier back in 94. I have just finished watching the first 2 episodes and will try and conclude the series tonight. I love the characters and despite the whole girl-ghost thing being a little cliche even for the time it was made, it is still brilliant. It really is like a Danish Twin Peaks in places. Stig is just the most brilliant character ever.
Any fans?
Incidentally, I watched the american remake "Kingdom Hospital" before I watched this. I actually like both as they are quite different in places, but the original is still the best. I love the grainy, shakeycam aesthetics too.

Big fan. It's probably some of the best danish television ever produced. Lars Von Triers best, in my eyes. It's the perfect combination of being eerie, and absolutely hilarious at times!

I would actually like to see the english translation. If they did a good job, i believe it could be done.
A sidestory: One of my friend is a huge Udo Kier fan, and at that time, worked at a gas station. Then one day, he actually walks in, buys some gas and some chocolate! My friend went insane, and said to him how great he was and all that. He was very polite, modest and grateful.

I think that's an auto-catchphrase. At least it spawned one up here too.

Stephen King made a remake. I haven't seen it, and have no plans to do it either.

Riget is brilliant! I was desperately hoping for another season. Sad that the two main characters died before Trier had the chance. I still hope the manuscript can be released as a book or something. And talking about the danish language, a friend of mine who studied phonetics actually talked to a danish researcher who claimed that if the danish language conitinued it's "developement", it would in a few generations be impossible for even dansih people to understand. So, you danish kids should start to speak proper danish and not that hip-hop language you speak now!

It seriously wouldn't surprise me at all. It's slowly evolving into english anyway... Perhaps i should marry a nice norwegian gal. Even if she sad she hated my guts, i think it would sound cute.

On a Riget related note - Can you remember the scene where Fru Drusse's son, has to find his inner power animal, and it turns out to be a penguin??? I'm pretty sure David Fincher ripped that scene off in fight club (Where Edwart Nortons character has to do a similar thing as therapy, and his animal turns out to be a penguin too)

I have finished watching Riget I & 2 now and I can honestly say it was one of the best television series I have ever had the pleasure of seeing. Some bits had me in tears of laughter (basically any scene with Stig Helmer) whereas others creeped the hell out of me. Such a shame that it was never properly concluded, but what a ride while it lasted. Awesome.
