im not into new videogames anymore,
cant afford the new ones, bought a used gc,
but things have changed, its not as mindblowing
as it once was even obviously good games my mate
posseses bore me quite fast, maybe im just depressed...

however listening to old nintendo midi files
feels just as good as if nothing ever changed and
i still go to school thinking bout nothing else than gaming

midi songs from beloved games have unbelievable powers

i once called out of work to finish yakuza, so i wouldn't
have to pay another week at blockbuster, and i didn't even
like the game.

ijon, have you played twin cobra for the NES? great old
school shmup with a fantastic old school soundtrack

Play FF7 Crisis Core, the ending will take you back to
junior high (or however old you were when you played it) and
make you cry (if you're a girl).

Gaming as art = Earthbound/Mother 2's soundtrack

No game holds more nostalgia than Secret of Mana for me.
It's different for everyone, but I'd like to think playing
videogames since I was 4 opened the door to discovering
Electronic Music back in 1994.

For sure. I have little doubt that video game music
contributed to me getting into electronic music. Especially
Genesis music because of the nature of the FM synth.

Actually, I replayed Streets of Rage 3 a few years ago and
couldn't believe how much that soundtrack predicted my
tastes in the early 2000s. And maybe Earthbound led to me
getting into playful, nostalgic electronic stuff like
Freescha and the like.

LAZY_ROBOCOP

the amazing robocop soundtrack on the spectrum can now be
heard by those of you unfortunate enough to have not heard
it first time round. the intro was incredible ...also check
the tune around 0.42 too!

excellent. i'd never heard of that one before. the beat
sounds remarkably like (the often samped) 'when the levee
breaks' by zeppelin.

20+ posts in and no one has mentioned Mega Man? For
shame!!!

The Bubbleman theme very well be my ALL TIME favorite song,
ever. The heavy metal mix floating around on the internet
and youtube is also wonderful.

I can't forget to mention Matoya's theme (I think was her
name), the witch from Final Fantasy 1. You know, she had the
brooms dancing around her room who said things sdrawkcab.
